RE: I'm not complaining that he's been disciplined. hey , im in full agreement with you fella , if they feel the need to respond everytime a keyboard warrior turns on aol and spouts off more drivel then it makes you wonder what sort of state are we in ! however after a "leaked" press story , then a statement which more than covered everything the club feels then eed to expand further ....
RE: I'm not complaining that he's been disciplined. Exactly. They just seem hyper-sensitive to me. It's like having a team of women running the show.....
RE: Why pick out Kay its probably to do with the scale of the problem and the reliability of the source, can't imagine he'll be the last though unless the others see sense. Can't say Im surprised though given the problems hes had in the past with discipline it might also have been the last straw
During the season....they shouldn't drink... end of!! They are supposed to be athletes, if Kay thinks differently then he can **** off!
RE: During the season....they shouldn't drink... end of!! You must be joking! They can have a few dizzyades now and again surely? I wonder if Simon Davey banned himself from the pop during this last ale free period?
RE: During the season....they shouldn't drink... end of!! So should we get rid of the others who broke the ban?
RE: During the season....they shouldn't drink... end of!! Cant see the problem after a game but should surely drink in moderation if at all on days running up to the game.Roy Keane one of the biggest pissheads in the past was recently quoted as how theres no place for it in the modern game if you want success.I personally think if they expect to pick up the fecking wages that they do then cutting well down on alcohol is a smallprice to pay.
RE: During the season....they shouldn't drink... end of!! As I said anybody who goes against club imposed rules should face the consequences,if the manager is to have any authority he has to maintain the discipline and anybody caught has got to be disciplined they pick up the wages they should toe the line.
RE: During the season....they shouldn't drink... end of!! agree, alcohol slows down recovery, makes your bones brittle and destroys your memory amongst other things.
I can guarantee that if none of the players drank all season, we would be higher up the tableand thelads wouldfeel fitter, sharper and all round better players for it.
Not just that. but if you hadthe good fortune of such a privileged career, whywould you want to destroy it all by getting wasted on ale?The players should be seen setting good examples foryoungsters to aspire to, not gettingspotted rarnd tarnslinging ale downon a saturday night imo.

RE: During the season....they shouldn't drink... end of!! I agree, that they should be more professional, and also with your point that we would probably be higher in the league. I do think however that Kay is being made an example of, and that there may be an hidden agenda to get rid.
Anthony kay is one of the best players to come through via the academy why is the board wanting to ship him out when we should have more players like him who wear the shirt with pride week in week out.
I'm sorry but just because you come from Barnsley doesn't mean you are exempt from club rules
Sports science is just that-a science-it isn't rocket science to realise that regular boozing does not improve your footballing skills

RE: During the season....they shouldn't drink... end of!! I dont see a problem with the players having a couple of pints. But the problem with a few of our players in the past is that they end up slinging a few gallon down their necks. This has got to have an impact on your fitness/well-being. Dont think they should drink at all 3 days before a match. With Saturdays and midweek games this would mean that for spells in the season they would not be drinking at all. Small sacrifice for being a well paid professional athlete.
RE: I think Simon Davey wants shut. Course there is! It shows he thinks there's nowt wrong in drinking the night before a game and has done it for a while, not just now.
We are all entitled an opinion but unfortunately it amounts to knowt if there are Club Rules. If there are such rules relating to alcohol consumption and they have been shown to have been broken then thats it end of story. The start of the thread however was to do with washing your dirty linen in public and with that I totally agree, such matters should NOT be for general public consumption, and again it shows a disregard for good communications. I dont think anybody at the club would know about such things even if it jumped up and bit them on the arse.
I don't think it is washing dirty linen in public.A player has been omitted from the squad and fined and all of a sudden there is rumour and speculation. All the club has done is put the record straight.I want my club to stay in this league for many a year to come and if that means stamping out indiscipline then so beit.I am actually a Kay fan but no player or players are bigger than the club.
Could it be that the Club is trying to keep him by using shock tactics to get him to clean up his act and stop going against the rules? If they really wanted to get rid of him I doubt they would make it so public that he has discipline problems.
The fans like Kay so they may feel that they have to try and justify getting rid of him and by putting that on the website it has undoubtably turned some fans against him which makes it a lot easy to release him.
