Page 18 lists detail of the stewarding requirements and where allocated.

    Ah... mentions roving roles here

"The Holder shall provide, to ensure the safety and welfare of all persons present at the Stadium, a minimum of one steward per 250 of the anticipated spectator attendance to undertake a mobile role. This ratio should be increased where an event/fixture risk assessment shows the need for a higher level of safety management. In addition to mobile stewards, the Holder must deploy stewards at static locations identified below when those parts of the stadium are in use:"

Christ, it's nearly open warfare if we start talking about ginnels and jennels. Let's not bring vomitories into it.

Ha, specifically a passage which allows spectators to exit an event... Vomiting folk out of the stadium, if you will.

    Makes sense, especially at Hillsborough.

That for me is the issue. We have been deemed in the past to not have the required experience in numbers of these. Previous safety officers have confirmed this.

The role of the average steward is to advise, help and help carry out evacuation if required. As well as report on trouble.

The crack-commando unit come it when required, supported by the police.

At Hillsborough they call them pukeways.

I wonder how many other clubs are struggling as badly as we are for stewards? I can't say I've seen loads of footage of grounds, but the ones I have seen have largely seemed pretty full, and respective fans pretty close. So you'd think their ruling authority has outlined the numbers required and they are being met.

Not quite sure why it seems its a bigger problem in Barnsley than every other footballing town and city in England.

"Barnsley folk are amongst the worst idlers in Europe".

    Or something...

it's not the council's responsibility to make repairs though due to the terms of the lease.Unfortunately in this instance they're not " all as bad as each other" and the council understandably can't use council taxpayers money on upgrading/modernising the stand.

Its also reasonable to say, why would a landlord and the council foot any bill for redevelopment when the beneficiary, the tenant, is currently in the process of being sued by the landlord?

I think the club statement in a round about way confirms it’s their report not the councils.
You would think if it was the Council, the club would have said following a safety inspection the council/landlord advised ……..

Given that our collective views on the statement allow interpretation, it’s probably fair to say it’s not clear what’s gone on.

    True.

Hopefully during these fan meetings we’ll find out more.

The biggest issue here, isn’t necessarily what’s gone on, it’s the way it’s been done and the potential of ‘spinning’ that may/may not be taking place.
