Dollys was ace, first pub off the bus, then one before last bus home.... Route: Dollys, Old Pavillion, Old Liberal Club, Silvers, Shakespeare, Corner Pin, Seven, Dollys...
Alabama Alligator - now demolished and Bingo hall built. Manx Arms - The dormant corpse still lay there but the soul long since departed. Tut and Shive - total dump but the beer was good and it always hosted the Dove At Seven's Christmas extravaganzas. I remember one year, Spartacus was so drunk he fell down 3 times during the first song and delivered the remainder of the set from a prone position!
King George, Chennels, White Hart, Royal, Rose n Thistle, Vine tavern, Industry (Old Pavilion) Temple (Brownes), Stables, Rebeccas & Changes.
Don't talk like a t.wat! You supped shandy & babycham.... Still do based on what I saw the last time you were on god's soil. I've got more ale in the pipe of mu rpick than you'e drank!! ff
Penny Farthing and Old Pav + Ring O'Bells for some... Rock music! I vaguely remember the Jingle boy too. All the cheapside shops girls went in there. Can anyone remember that little place sid of the Pram shop at the top of Donnie Road? Went to a few dos there. Phoenix? maybe not....
Started well but admittedly faded You had to pick and choose which bar staff you got because they were never trained to pull pints properly. Only the ones who had experience from elsewhere could pull a decent pint. Also, for some reason, the beer was always substantially better on a Friday than a Saturday. I have no idea why. Then in the year up to it shutting, they rather seemed to lose interest.
RE: Started well but admittedly faded Still beat some other pubs though, most notably the Shakespeare, when the hand pulled went off and you said you'd wait for them to change the barrel they'd say "Oh we've changed it but it takes 24 hours to settle!" Clueless fecks!
