We were a superb team the second half of that season. We smashed Wigan in that last match. But we also had the luck of them fielding a novice keeper who had a nightmare. My whole point is that even the best teams get luck. We've had some this season. That doesn't mean that Collins is a crap manager but just lucky as some are claiming. It's daft.

Needs time and backing to get a true feel of what he's about.

We also need some continuity rather than swapping managers all time. Be good to keep the same one for a few seasons rather than a new one each year.

He's getting more output from Kane and Cole than Duff did and he's also got us very close to top 2 despite having a non league defense most of the year, albeit in a weaker L1 than last season.

Still impressive to be where we are, in his first season at this level given the fact he's had to deal with that back 3 for all of the season whereas Duff had Kitch, Mads and Thomas.

Jordan Williams wasn't good enough in the Championship and he isn't good enough in League one. Would probably be slightly better at wing back but the sooner he moves on the better I would say.

I don’t agree. Williams is good enough for the Championship and definitely good enough for L1 the fact he has been played out of position and had the likes of Barry Cotter for protection doesn’t show him at his best but he is still an asset to the team

Didn't he get 5 goals and 8 assists last year in the league for us? He's more than good enough for this league, by a mile. Steady in the championship too imo, when in his natural position. He has made mistakes, certainly, he needs to take accountability for it, but it is very true that he's often against 2 v 1, especially when Cotter is playing. He's going to be caught in 2 minds all the time. The reason he's playing there is for him pace, as mentioned before, due to the fact Cotter & Okeeffe are always high up. Lopata playing there would be even worse when defending a counter attack (which we often do at home) purely because he's a lot slower. Fans love a hard tackle and I'm the same, but Williams pace has saved us a lot this season too with interceptions and covering space. I agree with a lot here than he needs to be moved back to RWB, I can't wait till Pines is fit because I do think Williams has had a few nightmares at RCB, but that is the reason he's been playing there and I can certainly understand it

Said this all season - seems to be the social media whipping boy. It's not Kane anymore

Yes he played down the club and fans. Can't say I remember him being one to play someone to spite the fans.

    Thanks
I genuinely forgot that. Don't know how. But rings a bell now.
Im guessing Bobby and definitely us fans were rightly angry.

I’ve made my views clear on Collins but if he gets us up he deserves a chance to show what he can do in the Championship.

There would be calls for his head in the MDT for any of those games where we go behind irrespective of the final score. We could win the first 20 games coming back from behind in every game and there still would be posters calling for his head during every game...

I called for his sacking around the end of November time as we kept throwing points away, only having one good half before capitulating, which told me he couldn't hack it. Since then that's been righted in a very rapid way and I can only commend him now. He was always going to have a major challenge on his hands from the start but you can't complain at all at 4th place and about as many points from autos at this stage. He's steadied the ship brilliantly.

Can’t say I’ve especially changed my mind. The results dictate that he had our full support for the rest of season so let’s see where we are in May.

Performances are still often dull and uninspiring. There is a lack of pace or ability to transition quickly. Defence still needs a lot of work.

In a league where Herbie Kane cost more than the entire team of a lot of our opponents it’s a bit rich to talk of ‘being dealt a poor hand’.

in the reverse their feels like a togetherness about the players. All seem fully committed including the loan players so we have to give credit for that to the management team.

Well done for changing your mind but why were you wanting his head in November? We're a club short of money, he inherited a defence that had been ripped apart, it is his first appointment in English football, he'd only been in post four months and has consistently been ahead of Duff's points haul from last season. I'm not suggesting everything is perfect. We'd all love to see flowing football more regularly but people's expectations at times just baffle me.

Because I thought it was a bridge too far for him. For the reasons you said it would've been a challenge for a seasoned manager, let alone a rookie. But he proved me wrong, he's done better than Duff. For one he's able to get us 3 points from being behind

I don't think the transfer fee and wages paid for Kane are relevant when talking about the hand Collins was dealt. It's not like he had the option to reallocate those funds elsewhere. Similarly, you mentioned Benson in another thread as being expensive, but Collins doesn't have an expensive midfielder in Benson, he has an injury prone, as yet unproven midfielder.

The hand Collins was dealt was a striker who had just had his best season with something like 16 goals, a good first choice midfield three, and very little in way of defence or squad depth. It wasn't exactly a great hand.

I’m not a massive fan, but I also think it’s unfair to judge him properly until he got his centre back options in place.

Who has decided already though, that even if we do get to and lose in the Play offs.. he should go ?. I think that's harsh to be honest.
The requirement for me this season was similar to when Duff came in as well. I hoped for top half (12th at least), and challenging for the Play offs would be a great bonus.
And if he goes, we're back to square one and struggling to have a good pre season, yet again!. How on earth does that help us ?.
