I read that he has been offered the job

On two previous occasions. Before Mad Mel Machin he agreed to come but the club refused to sanction Ian Evans as his assistant so it fell through. At a later date he turned the job down.

Wilson was slated in his first season

mostly because he was an ex-Pig. Loved to bits in the promotion season and in the Prem, and unversally condemned for going back to the Washdays.

Hunter came in for a fair bit of criticism towards the end, but his teams never failed to play decent football. It was unfortunate that most of the best players left (McCarthy, Banks, Parker, Aylott) or got too old (Evans, Barrowclough) and the replacements weren't quite as good (Birch, Ronson, McGuire, Law, Geddis etc). Looking back though, I still think we were hasty sacking Hunter. Mind you, the following season when Bobby Collins took over we did really well only for Collins to be kicked out for the return of Clarke - a bad mistake as I thought at the time.

    Andrew Lodge liked Paul Hart

and he helped (at least he appeared to :) ) Ridsdale undermine Thordarson in order to bring him in.
