Do you choose to post the same old ******** day in, day out, when you've absolutely no intention whatsoever of taking any notice of any replies, no matter how pertinent, informative or accurate they may be?
i know of one other player thats entered the pitch whilst drunk. as a fan i find it irritating and this tells me that this peron as know respect fot the GAME or us the FANS and treats us and the game as a joke. i dont think many other People would ditch there sons for booze. i dont think many of the players i like would run off to europe on a 3 day bender and when is son and former wife come to help him he tells is son to F off. i dont think many players act in a certain way for that long that makes is OWN son hate him and also hate all footballers because he thinks there all like is Own dad. As chopra as said, know one made him bet and its all is fault.
Ooohh Gerry Gerry was p*ssed every Saturday and still played a blinder but of course the game as changed and thats before the times of tights, gloves & thermal sweat repelling underwear that makes you run faster.
Alcohol as a minimum age limit on it and at 18 you should know that there is a chance that you could get addicted if you drink it and drink it. At 18 you should know how to say HELP me, im in trouble here. Same as betting. If you can't go a week without a drink or a bet in anyway then you have a problem.
With insight like that you should probably become a drugs and alcohol counsellor I reckon you've got all the right qualities.
Me, I prefer a nice loaded joint, it either makes you look a cun't or tells who ever takes notice what a rounded type a person you are....Either way who cares ....?
I'll forgive you the ignorance of youth. Well, I'm assuming you're very young, because only someone with no life experience could possibly sit there in smug self satisfied judgement on another human being. Read up about alcoholism, and read up about Gasgoine witnessing his mates death as a young boy. Read up also on the pressure of being your country's one big hope at a young age and all the expectations and attention and intrusion into your life that brings. Not that I think it'll make a blind bit of difference because in your world it's that easy to say 'no' and then nothing bad ever happens.
Re: With insight like that you should probably become a drugs and alcohol counsellor That or a football pundit. He could have his own talk show - Phil's Babb.
So Messi/ Ronaldo/ Rooney/ Bale would be forgiven for heavily drinking. He started playing at 17/18 and 21 when he played for England. All of the above played earlier than that. Messi was 16 when he first started playing for the might barca, 17 when he made a La Liga game. He's got more pressures on him than playing in is OWN town for a club that he grow up for. Messi had the hopes of all is family at 13, he was living in another continent and playing in front of 90,000.
I try to separate the footballer from the person. Footballer. Outstanding, one of the best if not THE best of his generation. Person. Highly flawed and you are correct no one made him drink... however the peer pressure at football clubs in the 70s and 80s and the drinking culture therein is likely to be a contributing factor. IMO he does not need sympathy he needs help and treatment as anyone who is an addict does. BTW Tony Adams, Bryan Robson just to name a couple liked the odd drink or six, Paul Merson who has his problems they all played when not 100%. Also what is your opinion of Tony Adams, a self confessed alcoholic who has turned his life around through the help of others ?
No You went on about pressure and thats a reason for it. Read this, this is what the highest paid footballer in the world uses football for. This is someone that as a pressure of Barcelona and Argentina on is shoulders says. In an fansite interview, Messi said: “Being a bit famous now gives me the opportunity to help people who really need it, especially children."[201] In response to Messi’s own childhood medical difficulties, the Leo Messi Foundation supports Argentine children diagnosed with medical conditions by offering treatment in Spain and covering the transport, hospital and recuperation costs.[202] Messi’s foundation is supported by his own fundraising activity with additional assistance from Herbalife. On 11 March 2010 Messi was announced as a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF.[203] Messi’s UNICEF ambassador activities are aimed at supporting children’s rights. Messi is supported in this by FC Barcelona, who also have a strong association with UNICEF.[204]
And ? Messi is who he is, Gasgoine is who he is. How old are you HT ? Are you exactly the same as every other lad your age ? Are you as good as them ? If not why not ?
Didn't know about the others Dave TBF. Marson on that program said he was always right when he went on the pitch but told of the tuesday drink binge when they didn't have a game. Ray parlour drank 5 pints before entering the liverpool pitch. The only reason he had a drink was because George Graham used to take the whole squad up and 99% if you weren't picked the day before you did get picked on the day.
