Yeah - he doesn't drink or smoke does he?

Crickey - he'd be worse than Gazza without the support network he has in place nowadays.

I don't mean to seem rude but this is now and that was then. The attitude towards drink, drugs, etc has changed beyond recognition in the last twenty years. The players are now coseted against the outside world by a plethora of agents, advisors and the clubs themselves. The mindset instilled by Wenger that seemed alien in 1996 when the continental players were used to looking after themselves is now the normal. It is not now acceptable to be unfit through drink at a professional club, back in the late 80s drinking was almost encouraged as 'team bonding' by managers such as Graham and Venables.

BTW I'm not decrying the work done by Messi and the modern players, I think it is fantastic, I'm just pointing out that we live in different time... I mean after all the greatest player produced by the British Isles was a drinker who's alcoholism finally saw the end of him.

And what has the above got to do with regards to your attitude towards Paul Gascoigne? Who is Marson?

Also to the originator of this post if Paul Gascoigne ended up the same as George Best what that give it some sort of justification in your eyes?

Defo not, because when you see a interview with callum Best you see what it's done to him.

So are you saying that Paul Gascoigne the individual deserves everything that comes his way and should not be offered any support because it's his fault?

Why can you not answer reasonable questions or partake in any forms of reasoned debate?
