Looks to me like he could do with half a stone off too.

So have we established his role in these six goals other than "he was on the pitch so it stands to reason he had a big impact"?

Unless you continually blow smoke up a player's arse at every opportunity then it's a witch hunt.

In the League below both Scowen and Hourihane made an instant impact whereas previously Potts has struggled in L1. To compare our current midfield with our most recent one is perhaps the fairest comparison possible. It’s literally comparing like for like. Don’t get me wrong Potts can potentially be a good player and am glad we have him. He should however be on the bench learning forming more experienced colleagues rather than learning on the job in an unforgiving Championship. Poor succession planning on our part has put a lot of unfair pressure on him and others.

Seems that way. I’ve no doubt Brad is an honest lad but to me so far he’s looked miles off it. It’s early days and I’m not writing him off by any stretch.

I don’t think that that is a witch hunt.

I don't get the need for people to target certain players..
Virtually all of them have been here for no more than three months. As far as I can see they're all trying their best.
If someone has a poor game, fair enough there's no problem with saying so. If there's a better option for the team fair enough. Discuss it.
But there's no need to be labelling players as piss poor or the worst player ever to pull on a red shirt as some people have maintained.
Will Potts be a big part of the team in a year's time? I don't know.
The best qualified person to judge his abilities and those of any other player would seem to be Paul Heckingbottom and the coaching staff. They may pick or drop Potts and anyone else. I would say it's pretty clear, however, that they don't think anyone, especially given our many midfield options, is rubbish.

Nooooo... Don't you know that you can't have an opposing opinion. The official line that Brad, Go Bradley Go Bradley Potts is a great buy, and all round good egg. And that view must not and cannot ever be challenged..

I think there are very few people saying he can't ever be challenged.

When he's on the pitch he'll also have my support because he's a brilliant player.

Correct! In fact during the average game a player has the ball less than 1% of the game - so really the most important aspect is what players do when they do not have the ball. Ever looked at those street soccer skills guys who have all the tricks in the world and wondered why they aren't playing pro-football? It's because its not what players do when they have the ball, its what the player and his team mates do when they don't have it - whether the team is in possession or not.

Even the Tories wouldn't try to spin statistics like the OP has. Ok...maybe they would. Comparing the worst 180 minutes without him to the best 180 minutes with him. He's been on the pitch 1,200 minutes this season.

McGeehan, Potts & Mallan all bagged an impressive amount of goals and assists last season so you can see why the club has selected these as Hourihane replacements and I think that at least one (probably Cameron, quite possibly Potts, or even Stevie) will indeed be a top replacement in the long term especially when you consider the weaknesses Conor had at first.

I like him, a great addition to the squad for me. Why not just give him time and see how far he can go? Hope he's playing tonight.

Scowen didn’t have an immediate impact from what I recall. He was okay, nothing more. We were torrid for much of his first six months here. The horror show at Crawley sticks out.

Conor’s initial impact was goals. The rest of his game came in for a right hammering on here for quite some time.

It’s funny how time alters the way we see things.

Such as Josh and Conor were great servants for us, but they and others who left more importantly formed parts of a great team.

I’ve seen good signs of a team growing nicely this season. Hell, we are only three points worse off this season than last.

Three points tonight and we level up. Not bad with a rebuild. However, it’d be some feat to again have the December and January that we had last year.

Good thread this though. Potts is my favourite laiker.

Mcgeehan was crap against hull but not a dicky bird said. People picking on potts coz he was poor first couple of matches and that's heckys fault for signing him half hour before first game and chucking him in when he had other choices. Back off him and give lad a chance ya morons

I don’t disagree with that. I feel sorry for players chuck in out of their depth to sink or swim. I’m not sure it’s an ideal way to nurture a career.
