There are but the very association is racist in its origins and whole set up. If it is to represent ALL police officers then why the racist need to include the word black in the title?

If I started a white peoples union that is set-up for the benefit of people from white countries but allowed anyone in it it would be racist and no small print would get me away with it

 

but i bet there wasn't much anti white racism going on when it was set up.

if i was in a minority, i wouldn't mind having an organisation working for me.

having said that, i don't agree with positive discrimination. it just winds folk up. if you're the best candidate, you should get the job.

 

Racism isnt combatted by calling yourself different and setting up a private organisation though. If anything it would make me far more likely to be racist to their members. I mean if THEY say they are different to me then i'll remind them of that fact, if they say theyre the same as me then fine theyre the same. But they cant have it both ways

True; Xmas, Easter, etc have become ultra commercialised but returning them back to their original glory is not the primary aim of the loonies who are responsible for some of the crazy decisions reported over the last few years. That is all about giving the perception of appeasing the minorities and saying "just look how we embrace all cultures, aren't we multi-cultural and modern, oh what a forward thinking body we are". What they forget is that we are a Christian country and our traditions, beliefs and cultures are paramount. I don’t think too many people, no matter what their ethnic background, would have an issue with this and if they do then they are free to go and live elsewhere.

Minorities should be represented. The only way for them to do it is to do it themselves.

 

But that's just it...

beliefs and culture is transient, just because we are a (nominally) a Christian country now does not mean we always will. 1500 years ago, a lot of people held pagan beliefs and these were hijacked by Christians. Why do we have Easter and Christmas when we do?

Of course, I'd rather there be no need for any religion.

The majority of minorities don't get offended by any reference to Christmas. I guess I get more offended by a load of commercialised psuedo-religious festivals and other such nonsense as Valentines Day that continually bombard the populace with another reason to part with money.

For the record, no, I don't buy my wife anything for Valentines Day. I don't need the market to tell me when to tell her I love her.

I agree that there should be no banning of any of these festivals though as some people want to celebrate them and that is their right to do so.

Spine Millington the well known spelling mistake always claimed he was Irish.

But only half his parentage was Irish.

After WW2 the UK would only grant him citizenship and a passport if he swore allegience to the Crown.

Milligan refused saying he'd been blown up by the Nazis, he didn't have to prove allegience to the Crown, his injuries were proof.

So he wrote to the Republic Of Ireland to ask if he could be one of them and they said sure, why not we need more famous people.
