He's got the best snap shot (if that's the right wording) at the club and yet he can't utilise it because he's stood next to the corner flag. When we have a corner he should be stood on the edge of the box waiting to hammer it home
Of all the things for us to complain about so far this season, Woodrow taking corners isn’t one of them. His delivery is actually pretty decent and the only reason you’d want him in the box is to tap in a rebound or hit a loose ball, because I can’t remember the last time he stuck his head on the end of any cross (West Brom away under Murray V.1?). Yesterday was the first game in a long time where us having a set piece felt like an opportunity because the balls going in where dangerous. We miss Madds, Dike and Morris in there obviously, so there’s hardly a lot to aim for.
Sold a pup? Dike was never ours and Mowatt was always leaving at the end of his contract. Schopp knew exactly what he was getting into.
Said it before but I've seen worse barnsley sides over the years but none who have played as badly and struggled to.score as much as this one. If it wasn't for brad Collins wonder saves we would be below derby. Conman has alot to answer for but the blokes out of his depth its embarrassing worse than morais.
What's the big deal about Woodrow taking free kicks? He smoked one in against Stoke and had one saved well yesterday. I don't get him taking corners but following Mowatt's departure I don't think we've got a bloke who takes them any better than Cauley.
Woodrow is our eat finisher, so many goals in and around the six 6 yard box, like Kane, and Rooney, they should not be taking corners and free kicks (crossing free kicks) at all, must be someone else who can take them!
Surely the taking of a free kick is the simplest task a professional footballer has to carry out and is surely training ground basics to perfect. The ball is dead, you have time, unchallenged to float the ball into the danger zone. I bet, in training, even Brad Collins can land a ball on a sixpence from 40 yards. But Schopp seems too busy crocking our players , on the training ground, rather than concentrating on the basics.
I agree that Woodrow isn’t exactly going to be rising like a salmon to head corners in but he’s the best first time finisher at the club and is always the first to react to the second ball in the box so that is why I wouldn’t have him taking corners. Free kicks are definitely his at the minute though.
Think Cauley takes corners and free kicks to ensure he gets a touch of the ball cos it aint always certain he will. Sure Cauley had an headed effort at goal this season, at the away end cos I was surprised by it. Can`t remember which game though.
I doubt he did. In fact I doubt any manager truly knows. I bet they get promised all sorts that doesn't materialise.
I think we all agree he would. Having said that, we drew to Cardiff at home from 2 0 up didn't we, similar to QPR away?
Yes but I think QPR had far more chances than Cardiff and we weren’t overawed by Them , QPR should have had at least two more last ten minutes whereas Cardiff scored with almost all the chances they had and a little help from the officials .
Val won 10 games out of 15 in his first 2 months in charge (without Dike or Morris), It will take Schopp 2 years to win 10 games at his current success rate.
But everybody last season was crowing about how our plan was working, we weren't overspending and mocking Wednesday for the mess they were in. As I say I have severe issues with the board but to provide the wages and bydget to replace Mowatt and Dike...we need to become Wednesday and overspend. And become the very thing everyone has been saying they can't stand.
