RE: Agreed We Need Them Back Onside The coverage this year has been poor. We have less fans than both Sheff clubs so it follows they will have more air time than us. But that doesnt mean we have to get upset and spit our dummies out when they say something we dont agree with. Get them back on board asap.
We can do without... ...their usual indifference (Cup run excepted) to all things BFC, such as not knowing the significance of Alan Lee's goal for Ipswich against Leeds last season for a full half an hour. Just wouldn't have happened had it been one of the Dee-Dars, they would have known all the permutations.
Yeh its annoying but its just banter really we need a Radio South Yorkshire, instead of radio Sheffield and licence payers from other scabby towns.
Its ok saying well done Mr Shepherd But is's the fans that miss out, he should be on Radio Sheffield like rest of the local Chairman and Managers having banter with the fans and gaining support and understanding of the club.
RE: Is that the same one who said Steele was better than Ferenczi and we never put all our 5 subs on That's the one. And the presenter still didn't kick him off.
Losing Radio Sheffield.......... wouldn't have mattered so much, if our club actually had a decent plan B, so that us fans weren't missing out.
so i take it that you challenge your fellow fans when they refer to Donny fans as Pikeys or Sheffielders as De dars. I somehow doubt that you do in which case you will be guilty of double standards. When fans from other towns take the micky it is just meant to be banter nothing more nothing less. If you're going to be oversensitive to things Barnsley you you have to practise watch you preach in respect of other towns. Lighten up.
RE: Woodbine you need listen to Y Goch He's genuinely proud of where he's from unlike you who seems somehow embarassed.
of course they're going to let more go when people say stuff about barnsley they've got nothing to lose so why not? Barnsley fans lose out because of the clubs stance and the club also loses out. The rest of the teams in the football league regularly listen to live match commentary done by professionals at no cost to themselves. If barnsley fans want to listen to live match commentary then they have to pay to listen to amateurs. It's ok taking a stance against radio sheffield (for them having the cheek to offer the nationally agreed rate) but WE miss out, not gordon shepherd, he is in the directors box every week.
You're right of course, however I have to ask this question. Which would you prefer? To listen to occasional commentary from them which is usually spot on while they also make factual mistakes during post match analysis and show indifference? Or have nothing at all? I would rather listen to free commentary by professionals (that the club is getting paid for) and then turn the station off than not listen to anything at all.
Like the other guy said though, if we started slating your grubby city.. like that awful park hill and manor estate there'd be an outrage. Im pretty sure Barnsley is a more pleasant place to live tbh but saying that it's just a joke i hope a tarn fan gives them some stick - i wanna see how they take it.
Who gives a fook about the name of the area that you live. Being "loyal" to where you live and defending it against outsiders is like living in playground world and ends up with the petty little Ingerlander booing of foreign national anthems at football matches at best and physical attacks on foreigners and referrals to "Pakis" like Windy mentioned t'other week. Barnsley has a strong identity nationally, more so than Wakefield, Huddersfield, Donny and probably Sheffield, so what !
RE: of course they're going to let more go when people say stuff about barnsley Apart from the cup games (which they are allowed to cover anyway) and SYorks derbies, how many more matches involving Barnsley do you think RSheff would've earmarked for live commentary this season? 2, 3 at a push possibly? They were never going to put BFC on live week in, week out. Also, if your criticising amateur commentary....apart from occasional technical issues, I would defend the quality of our coverage against that of any other local stations who cover reds' games. I agree that the comm should be free to air though and I hope that the club will start to back it's own station more, starting with financing. I have been at the station 12 years now though, so I won't be holding my breath just yet.
