Mischievous or not... Keith Hill's is a nice letter, it's well written and it's a good introduction to himself as a manager and what he hopes his team will achieve. I can't find fault with any of it. But it's not the call to arms that Flicker has written. It doesn't get the hair on the back of your neck tingling and the blood pumping. It doesn't make you wish the season would start tomorrow so you can shout your lungs out. I've no criticism of that introduction by Keith at all, it's good, but Flicker's is different gravy.
another Winston Churchill esque speech fantastic, I really hope Flitcroft has great success in his life he deserves it. I hope it is with us, that would be wonderful.
I don't get what's wrong with it. The manager's job is to get the squad to overachieve. How else will we push on up the table? not through financial clout. Keith Hill used 'overachieve' in the sense that the club were overachieving to simply be in the championship. Flicker has stated several times that the club, the fans, the players deserve to be the Championship. He wants us to over achieve in order to finish high in the league, not merely to remain in it. I guess there's still a few negative connotations connected to it from Hill's tenure.
I've got to agree. We've got about 16,000 people who follow BFC on Twitter or like BFC on Facebook, most of whom already have a season ticket. Of that the non ST holders there's not many of them that will see that post and fewer still that will read it. It needs pinning up everywhere throughout the town, local papers and radio just to get it out there. It's no use preaching it just to the current fans.
I don't think we over achieved this season, I think we achieved. If we finish top of the Championship next season, 10 points clear, I don't think we will have overachieved I think we will have achieved. You get out of this life what you put in. You achieve as a result of your efforts. Over achieved makes us sound like we're not very good and we've done better than we ever dare hope. I don't think that's true. I think we've got some good honest professionals and a good manager. Whatever they do next season they will have achieved it, not over achieved. It's just a phrase I don't really like, it's not a big deal.
The managers job is to get the squad to achieve, like the we achieved survival by being a top four or five club for second haif of season. Over/under load a ball@cks.
You've changed your tune. http://bbs.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showthread.php?191034-Strike-While-The-Iron-s-Hot
No, I'm not keen either. It doesn't really make sense and implies you are not really as good as you appear to be, when you quite obviously are. There's still a smidge of the Aldis about it. It's not a one-off game, it's a football league season and one that was particularly daft this year. Though I don't like that phrase, to suggest Keith Hill 'under-achieved' does sound rather apt.
you misunderstood my point. in the context of the post 2 days ago that was aimed to those moaning that they havent recieved a renewal letter, i stated do they need one? todays thread is about the club posting a message on the website and my point regarding that was, do the club expect everyone to come rushing when a large proortion of our fans will not read it or hear about it. 2 very differing threads and opinions regarding them. and should i be worried i have a stalker????
In the past a copy of that letter would have gone out in the renewal pack and as i said on another thread 100% of Barnsley fans must be on the internet.
