Dean Gordon when I used to collect football stickers, I once got Dean Gordon 3 times in one packet of stickers. My dad wrote a strongly worded letter to Merlin (the sticker company, not the magician) and they sent me 3 complimentary packets, 2 of which contained Dean Gordon.
This thread makes me melancholy. You spend years of being familiar with these players and then they slide away into a post football life and you entirely forget about them until threads like this. Worse still it's hard to find out what most of them are doing.
Paul Furlong Hardly a 90's footballer as he played in 4 different decades and was still scoring regularly in the football league in his 40's
Matt Jansen A bit of a sad story this one. Jansen was a player with a very, very bright future. Beginning his career at Carlisle, during which time he turned down a move to Manchester United, he then moved onto Crystal Palace. After a successful year at Selhurst Park his performances earned him a £4.1 million move to Blackburn Rovers and it was here that he became a club legend.Following a motorcycle accident in Rome (the same summer he narrowly missed out on the England World Cup ’02 squad) he spent six days in a coma. Though he recovered fully he was never able to regain his previous form. Jansen continued to play football, plying his trade throughout the lower leagues and he’s currently player-coach for Northern Premier League side Chorley alongside Gary Flitcroft.
Steve Morrow. Broke his collarbone after falling off Tony Adams' shoulders while celebrating the 93 cup final win against the dee dars. David Hillier. Ian Selly.
Ever wondered where Richard Keys got his hairy hands from? They were stolen from Ian Marshall when he retired from football.
Earl Barratt Also born in Rochdale, has a brother called Floyd who played basketball for OLDHAM CELTICS!! During his footballing career his nicknames were "The Pearl", Pearlinho and 'The Earl of Barrett'. Winner?

'Big' Ron Atkinson said of Barrett at the time that he was the best right back in the country. Everyone thought he was crackers, and obviously biased as he was his gaffer at the time. Not sure who was England's first choice right back at the time - a young Gary Neville maybe?
