I like lager, cider & beer, none of the John Smith's or Tetley's sh!te though! I'm big into real ale at the moment & like all styles, really into darker ales at the moment though, Elland's 1872 Porter is excellent!
IPAs for me and over here we have some fantastic IPAs and beers. Some of my favorites, Ithaca brews, flower power and Embrrrrrr Flying dog, Raging bitch, doggy style and pearl necklace Also Shocktop do a seasonal beer called Apple honey crisp, its a cross between a beer and a cider. Very refreshing in the hot summer months.
Real ale. The variety of it, yes you can get a dud but mostly from smaller breweries there are some absolute gems. We are lucky to have Acorn Brewery on our doorstep who do absolutely quality beers. Contrary to what someone said about smaller brews being iffy and inconsistent, I take an opposite view - so many beers when they get popular and are shipped around the country lose something in the higher production - Doom Bar, Black Sheep, Old Speckled Hen to name 3, I used to love them but as they became more popular the quality suffered. I prefer trying beers I've not had before.
I generally prefer blondes ... particularly the hoppy beers from Ridgeside Brewery from Meanwood. however my favourite brunette is Guiness West Indies Poerter and red head Hawkshead Red
America was a beer lover's dream for me. Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA and Bell's Two Hearted Ale were my favourites, but so many good ones to choose from. Russia is also producing some very exciting craft brews.
Started doing this in The Talbot Inn at Mapplewell. Bloody gorgeous on draught - but almost too drinkable!!
Can drink both Lager and Bitter, mainly drink John Smiths Smooth but I do enjoy a pint of Acorn Blonde where available. Had a bottle of Lech last week and thought that was nice
I agree completely. Hobgoblin used to be lovely but I had a pint just before Christmas and it was foul. Williams Brothers who were long a favourite of mine also seem to be going downhill, sadly.
Beer for me. Lager is too gassy. Timothy Taylors, Black Sheep, most IPA's, Copper Dragon, Theakstons, most stouts. Something that has flavour.
Real ale. Voodoo Mild and Bad Kitty last night amongst others. First time I've had the latter on draft, beautiful vanilla porter. Pretty spoilt for choice in York as most pubs have guest ales on.
