I thought we were always on the Ponty end to start with and then depending on the toss up we would either stay there or walk thru the John Smiths Stand to the Kop end. The rival supporters would walk round the back of the John Smiths Stand to the Ponty End. There was no fighting between fans and not much banter either. I remember when we played Southport at home and because we were winning at half time me and a few mates went over to the kop end where the Southport fans were and joined in shouting for Southport. I think we won 2-0. About 1966-67 I think.

Yep, remember that. Living in South Kirkby / Elmsall, it used to be 20p to get the bus to Donny. But because Elmsall is close to the South Yorkshire border, if we walked down to the edge of town near the firework factory, it was officially just over the line into South Yorkshire and we could then get the bus for 2p, or 4p if the driver thought you were over age.

I'm probably younger than most on here so to some, some of these might not seem that long ago but.....

Going to town with my mum and getting the bus from the other side of the train lines.

    Eating in littlewoods cafe

Checking the stock at index because the wrestling figure I wanted was out of stock at Argos.

My dad complaining to the staff in index because you got a random wrestling figure rather than the one in the catalogue.

Having a birthday party at McDonald's

Buying model cars from the hobby shop, which is now charlsworths butchers (rip)

My mum making me walk all the way up to Dunnes at town end, which felt like miles away.

The bomb scare in the Alhambra, the day of the open top bus parade when we got promoted to the Premier league.

The Ps1 game special offer at currys, buy one chart game full price (£44.99) and get a second for £2.99.

Blackford sports being an actual market stall rather than a shop near the market.

    Upper Crust 1, 2 and 3.

Parking at the dairy where my dad worked when we were going to the football.

Then parking behind what was a petrol station where the new houses are on pontefract road and buying a bottle of Orangina and a packet of Visa versa's from the petrol station.

It did in the latter years, after the greedy Ba*tards from Tadcaster shut down our brewery. Prior to that it definitely said Oakwell Ales and was always known as the Brewery stand.

I remember when we had a good understanding of English grammar and spelling; on Sundays the roads were quiet and the town centres were shut, the corner shop shut for a few hours and my bus fare as a child was 3d (I'm obviously a little older than you).

It was no loss, Drinking BB was like drinking dish water, or cold sick, you had to force it down, that was in the 70's so maybe they improved on it later. Bad memories of that but as a teenager you have to look the big guy and pretend that you are enjoying it.

Oh lordy lord.... where do I begin?
The River Dearne at Darfield before they re-routed it, it used to flood quite often. The old river bridge and then the bailey bridge they put over it whilst the new one (the one that's there now) was being built.
The time when a railway line still ran through Darfield, there was a station, my cousin worked in the ticket office. Trains stopped there and when I was a kid I'd go down to the station to meet my dad off the Rotherham train at teatime.
The Green Monk toy factory where tin toys were made.
The little old wooden cricket pavillion at Darfield cricket club.
    etc, etc, etc.
