RE: Public comments like: my take on that is PC will find the money to sign someone who will put bums on seats, but Eddie Hitchcock types will have to come from the 'prudent budget'.
I agree with giving the players a chance, but there's a small but... I actually think our first choice XI players would probably keep us up if they were all fully fit and never banned all season... However, take a possible first XI: Colgan Hassell Reid Kay Hecky Shuker/McParland/Hayes Howard Tonge Devaney Hayes/Richards Nardiello Good side. Now what if some players get injured/lose form etc? What do we have in reserve? Tommy Wright Nicky Wroe Neil Austin Robbie Williams Richard Kell (?) A host of youngsters who never won a place in a League One side so are they ready for the Championship? This is the problem we have, a lack of depth in the squad... arguably no-one who's likely to change a game positively if we're struggling. This isn't a moan, I know the club are trying to bring in more players, and I'm sure they will, I have total faith in the club's staff. I'm just explaining why, as it stands, we'd be struggling, and it's not a question of the current players' ability. Bear in mind we've lost 3 or 4 key members of last season's squad in McPhail, Carbon, Burns and Shuker (?) and also released Vaughan and Conlon. Most of these have to be replaced surely, but I agree with GS and AR in that there's no point getting players in who won't improve the squad. There's still nearly 2 months till the transfer window shuts, don't forget Disco came in after the season started last year.
Seems to me that for all his good qualities, Mr Shepherd is one of those people who can't accept criticism, no matter how constructive or well-intentioned. He always wants the last word, and always has to be right - even when he's wrong.
I have faith and confidence in him as our chairman but I do wish he'd stop firing off knee-jerk reactions to every little niggle that he gets from places like this.
These are your customers you're referring to, Mr Chairman - show us some respect and you never know, you might start to get some back.

There's a BIG problem in midfield already! Unless Richard Kell (an unknown quantity) is going to be ready very quickly, we are likely to struggle with only Howard and Tonge runnig the midfield. Ritchie will most likely play Ant'ny in central midfield. Hassel will move across and Austin will be brought in.
RE: There's a BIG problem in midfield already! Oh I agree, that's the one position I believe me MUST replace before the start in my opinion, McPhail's not an easy man to replace, but we need someone that will make the team tick in there. Tongey's a good lad but he's not played in midfield much at first team level.
RE: There's a BIG problem in midfield already! I would rather have a defensive midfielder to replace burns before worrying about replacing mcphail. Howard seems quite creative and likes to push forward.
RE: There's a BIG problem in midfield already! Indeed, I'll settle for any proven or exciting young CENTRAL midfielder though at this point!
RE: We all have great respect for GS, PC and AR...........but thats not the point any chance that you might elaborate on the connection/meaning and similarities between worried and spineless.
