Agree - Elvis Juice - meh. And as for Lost ......... think I bought 96 cans on offer last year to stock up for summer. Even though I am not a massive lager fan, I can barely touch that stuff and must still have a dozen cans left. Offer them to visitors, mostly. Or delivery drivers. Postmen. Anyone who'll take one.
I can't tell you how much I miss travel. And Bologna is incredible. And if you can visit when it's porcini season (mid/late September).... good grief, who knew mushrooms could be so ridiculously tasty!

We had a week in Emilia Romagna.... back in maybe 2015/6ish? Had a few days in Parma, a few in Bologna and had visits to Ferrara and Moderna. and you're right, the food is outrageous. We had a trip to a Parmesan warehouse and at the end they broke open a 36m cheese, provided some fresh bread and some "local" parma ham and just left people to it. The stuff we get given over here is like cardboard in comparison. It was just delicious. The last italian break I went on was Sicily in late 2019. I loved Palermo. Had a really good craft beer place there too. We had 10 days in total, 2 days in Palermo, a week in Cefalu and then back to Palermo for one night to fly back home the next day. Completely different feel to anywhere else i've been in Italy. Quite decayed and clearly some poverty, but it wore it well, unlike say Naples.
Fortunately I only bought a 4 pack of Lost last summer Ive drunk one the Mrs has drunk one and still got 2 at the back of the cupboard we should probably just throw them out
I used to like Elvis Juice then they changed the recipe and dropped the abv and it was so much worse. Apparently they've started doing the old abv again but I haven't seen it in supermarkets and don't know whether it's actually the original recipe
Good heads-up! Have to say that Vocation are probably my favourite brewer. They all seem to have a very distinct, signature, taste.
Just had an email from Brewdog to say they’re releasing a 15% strength version of Punk IPA for its 15th anniversary. Also costs £15 a bottle, in keeping with the theme..
Yep, their stouts which are usually on the sweet side are right up my street. The 666 especially, plus the Imperial Kirsch (black cherry) and Imperial Banoffee. Not to everyone’s taste but I love them!
There is a definition for craft beer and it has nothing to do with being expensive. It’s around independent ownership, production size, and brewery accreditations. Essentially, if you’re big (in beer terms), are owned by someone who doesn’t qualify as brewer, and don’t have the right accreditations, then you’re Budweiser (or Heineken. Or Carlsberg. Etc.)
You need to pick out the 440ml can size. Most popular format for craft beer at the moment growing at something insane like 6000% vs. pre-lockdowns. Big supermarkets have them.
The imperial kirsch could well be my favourite stout/porter of any brewer. The only one that could challenge it for me is/was the Mother Kellys x Pohjala impy porter which had allsorts in there, though I suspect its gone the way of things post brexit.
POP Sodas (POP being Planet over Profit as all profits is invested in to supporting climate change). Originally just meant for BrewDog Bars but Tesco got wind of them and took them on. Not sure how they’ll do long term in supermarkets. Pretty niche and people down a soft drink aisle aren’t looking for BrewDog. Taste great though.
Virtually everything out there in the supermarkets and on draught in pubs is Elvis the original (at 6.5%). We also launched the American Pint can when we brought it back that was only available online.
I do think Acorn is quite under rated and seen it in London a few times. I particularly like Gorlovka.
