Usain Bolt, as I reckon he'd be brilliant in helping to build Brand Barnsley globally & enhance the fans' experience. No better place to develop his skills, considering his ambition to play for Man U some day. Obviously he's unproven, but would be a box office signing if given a few runouts from our bench regardless of his ability.
Absolutely not. I’m saying that even the pick of the bunch is a gamble and no signing is guaranteed success whether it’s a household name or an up and coming young player who has proven his worth in League One or League Two.
I don't think there will any change in our recruitment policy. Many times during the Press Conference,Paul Conway talked about the statistical model . This identifies players who have value to add after further development and experience. Loans may come in,if the costs will be no greater than the Budget allows.
Absolutely. He also said something along the lines of resources would be afforded to JC so that the same model could be utilised albeit with a wider net. So instead of the analytical approach focusing on talent in the UK and Ireland we may also be able to look at Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 as well as further if Nice’s scouting resources are shared, etc. Exciting times ahead.
Totally agree. I’m hopeful that this new lot means we can get our “top” targets and lose some elements of the risk. People like Ollie Watkins may now be in reach from lower leagues. Have to wait and see. But like you say, most transfers are something of gambles
Ben Marshall and Michael Zyro from Wolves, send Gardner back to Villa and sign £5 million rated midfielder Marko Grijic ( ex-Red Star Belgrade) on loan from Liverpool. As competition for Davies sign Brondby's Danish international keeper Frederik Ronnow who is on Forest and Crystal Palace's radar. Whilst we are at it we could talk to Palace and offer Yiadom for their full back Pape Square and cash. The latter is interesting Marseille who want him to replace Patrick Evra who has been sacked.
