Agreed , but there have been below par performances on a regular basis throughout the team , we can analyse every goal we concede till the cows come home but what about the missed chances at the other end & the failure to track back & pick up from the middle , you can go on for ever but the one thing is certain , if we go down its not down to any one player in any one position , its because collectively we have not been good enough & to single out individual players is wrong
He was one of our better players last season until the Wednesday game it’s only the trolls on here who need a victim to bully that try to pretend differently. I remember when Nicky Eaden used to get it in the neck every week by the 90s versions of internet trolls and at Oakwell. The fault is on the management side for not having a viable replacement when he needed a rest. Instead we carried on playing him because we had no alternative which further eroded his confidence and ability.
I thought Davies's error on Friday was park football level. However, it won't be his fault when we get relegated. He is not the problem but he is part of the problem. I've criticised Potts, but he is also only part of the problem. The squad as a whole is just nowhere good enough which is why we haven't won at home post bonfire night. People were saying that this squad wasn't good enough in August and unfortunately it looks like they will be proved right.
That’s it. The problem with us is all our squads young developing players rather than about half of it. Ideally when they go through bad spells of form they can be taken out of the team & in Davies’ case we’d have an experienced keeper who could come in & do a job. Obviously Turnbull had his back issues but that kind of balance with a young inexperienced keeper & a more proven, mature one is what you need
I know it's all about opinions and yours is as valid as mine, but that just seems so extreme. I wouldn't even blame Davies for the goal. IMHO it's one of those looping headers that just falls right, arcing perfectly over the Keeper and dropping under the bar. That Davies got a touch on it at all I thought was a good piece of athleticism. He had to jump up and back and twist his body and he just failed to claw it around the post. Just watched it again about 10 times in HD on a full screen and I don't hold him accountable.
As per @fired 's post, Davies is not a bad keeper. He is a good keeper having a poor spell. Yes we have suffered, but we are hardly going to attract De Gea are we. I still believe he is a viable long term first choice for us who could easily take our appearances record.
Could have done with a big lad up front to start the season to ruffle defensive feathers, instead of em hevvin a stroll in the park against Bradders.
Davies had a coach that had him catching the ball as opposed to punching or flapping the ball away, that coach left and he reverted back to his natural flapping style, sometimes this works but aint the percentage thing for me. Coaches have spent loads of time on kicking from hand and improvement has been seen for short periods before he reverts back to hitting the stands. Does he learn from his mistakes? Davies has been a good shot stopper whilst with us, until this loss of form, and has saved us many points even some early this season despite the few points we have but now since before Chrimbo he has cost us points. He is a player that frustrates the **** art of me because I know he is capable but just doesn`t seem to learn by his mistakes. I don`t hate him and neither am I bullying him, and pray for him to have fantastic game this aft when called upon.
Just watched it back again and I still think it was poor. As I say, I don't blame Davies for where we are in the league but he can't inspire any confidence in the defence. Let's hope he can keep a clean sheet today.
