A few Tracky Lads.............................................. I remember a few faces, had a pint or two with some of them.
The only name I can think of is my old running pal Keith Binney. I think its Keith at the front in the track suit.
Looks like they are on Station Road Industrial Estate where the Speedway Track was. The tall chimney is Park Hill Brick Works home to a rare Bat.

Think I've got a few more names. Bill Holden, Bob? Jackson, Brian "Chunky" Prazadovich [sic]?, they all worked as mechanics at Sheffield Road Depot.
There's also a lad on there who married Kath Mattock can't remember his name, I think her family had a news agents on Wombwell High Street, he worked as a driver at Wombwell Depot.
There are at least 8 Tracky lads on there made up off Barnsley garage staff and Wombwell drivers.
The bus was a probably a Leyland Atlantian. I'm not convinced the bus is a Tracky, though it should be, the colour looks to be too Red. At that time the National Bus livery was an orangey Red not the traditional Tracky Red.
I work at Barnsley Garage from 1967 to 1982 but I can't remember the event.

It is Keith Binney.............................................. Alegend around these parts, still runs marathons toraise money for charity.
I thinkthe bus was pulled to The Yorkshire Miners Gala.

RE: A few Tracky Lads.............................................. Yes, it's Keith Binney at the front.
Hiya love. To be honest I know very little about the photograph other than my dad is one of the pullers along with some of his work colleagues. I'll pester my dad for some more info and let you know when I hear back.
RE: Another pic You've been away too long, Cazi ..... that one was taken at the end of Pit Street, Low Valley, but, yer were reight about the George, it was on the corner, just out of sight on the left of that pic.
Update It was nothing to do with the miners or tin factory. It was a bus pull from Low Valley Industrial Estate to the George hotel and it was in aid of the special baby unit
Of course it is!!! It was bugging me that, an' all!!! The "brickie" is in the background - that's what I recognised - it's a bat colony now, I think! The bus is being pulled onto the industrial estate where Maplins is...
Aye, that bus shelter is still there! Opposite what used to be the snooker hall but is now a fishing tackle shop(?)...
RE: Aye, that bus shelter is still there! Looks like the road which temple gym was on, and opposite fishing republic.
RE: Aye, that bus shelter is still there! Fishing Republic, that's the one... Temple Gym was on there, yeah - it's up on Station Lane in Wombwell now...
