Go on then what've you got? to be £50 must be very very rare and mint (unplayed) ... lots of peeeps think crached vinyl with torn pic covers are BLACK GOLD ......
Up in the North East DJing & didn't have time to go anywhere. It is a great way to remind people about record shops. My record shop in Leeds closed 6 years ago, leaving me with massive debts of over 30k & I had to sell my house in the end. Was no help for us back then. Jumbo managed to survive the really low times with ticket sales for gigs (as did Crash, although they are only half the shop they used to be). Crash has always been a brilliant shop from the late seventies punk era, right through. Pleased they are doing OK, was in there a few weeks ago buying a few LPs.
Amongst the ones I've got that I know have some value are: David Bowie - The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars (good condition) Lou Reed - Transformer (good condition) The Who - Meaty, Beaty Big and Bouncy (good condition) I've got more but these are ones I've heard have a reasonable value.
There is. If he's got an original pressing of the Ziggy Stardust Album he should get £25 for it at least. Depends what catalogue number he's got. http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?release_id=618952&ev=rb
Thanks I'll check it out later. I am assuming its an original because the guy who said I'd get around £60 for it looked it up in a catalogue. This was a few years ago so maybe their value changes.
All three are great records...... I have loads of high value stuff, but will never sell ...... BTW .....I advise you that the're worth nowt .... so I'll take em off you
Hehe, to be honest I only glance at their value as I would not sell any of my vinyl (except the ***** that our kid mentioned further up the post)
Absolutely mate. I wouldn't even call them demos - just well recorded, beautiful performances of some of the great songs, just Alex and his acoustic guitar. I've got a lot of Chilton stuff that is waaaayy out there, but these are just sublime. Hidden away for such a long time too. He probably said 'put this out when I'm dead'. There is much more besides, but it is worth getting for these recordings alone. You will crumble to the floor.
Got Keep Your Eye on the Sky and all the studio albums! One of my favourite bands ever! Did you get to see him and Jody when they toured with the two blokes from the Posies? Meant to go to RSD - Record Collector in Sheffield is a decent store, but I was a little worse for wear on saturday morning so I stayed in bed! The prospect of paying £20 for the Orange Juice LP's wasn't enough of a 'pull' to get me up! Called in at Sister Ray the other week - love it in there, somehow managed to limit myself to 4LP's - Can -Tago Mago, Os Mutantes - S/T, Ornette Coleman - Shape of Jazz to Come, and a Neu! album. Bought another 3 vinyl at a recent New Mastersounds gig in Leeds - fantastic stuff! No wonder I'm so bloody skint
Yes, I did. Possibly ten years ago at the Mean Fiddler in London, which had taken over the venue underneath the Astoria (Not the best place). I went with Ed Harcourt, remember him? Coolest thing ever - The band are on stage, waiting for Alex who shows up presently, takes of his satchel puts it by the drums, takes off his jacket, puts that down - all in his own time, takes off his glasses, puts them in his pocket - crowd just watching all this, finally straps on a guitar and goes straight into the opening chords of September Girls. I bet he doesn't even sound check. Well, not any more obviously.
