I think the club would be better employing you rather than RK or MK

at least your reports are fair and objective, rather than everything beingslanted towards a postive and often untrue position.

The club might get a bit more respect from the fans if they started being honest in their propaganda

    What is Dave Hancock's job?

And is he related to Nick or Tony?

RE: Sorry for suggesting you were female

To be honest, I do not like all the name calling that goes on on here so I try to stay calm even when provoked. There are posters that I could fall out with at the drop of a hat, but in try end I'm less good at the quick witted stuff than most. It's nice to now I've got a feminine side though. I will be sure to mention it to the wife the next time she having a go.

I am touched by your support, but give over now. I am getting an over inflated ego.

I take on board what you say but there are a couple of points to mention.

Firstly, the academy is not a results based business, but one of development for the future.

Secondly, these kids don't get paid so I don't think the time is right for them to get used to the idea of having 10,000 critics each week which highly paid players get.

Thirdly, the quote in the report "Mention must be made of a reckless foul by Eddie Haigh which earned him a booking that might have been more and the defence of the indefensible by the home bench". I contacted the Academy and this player did not even play in this game and this player's parents are obviously upset with the quote. No doubt you will want to apologise to them.

From someone who does use their real name.

If he didn't play then they know it was a mistake

Look mate this is a forum for people to write whatever they like (within reason of course) so it might be worth noticing that things are posted on here that aren't correct or factual.

This is not the holy grail of journalism. It is just a message board for people to have a chat about all things.

Give it a rest you're starting to drone on like a little old woman.

*These views are mine and not the views of site admin...well not officially anyway.

    A question or two

If the academy is not a results based business why are they in a league? And why do they enter a cup competition? I have always been led to believe that winning the FA Youth Cup is quite prestigious.

You also state that the academy players don't get paid. Is that true? That really would surprise me. Did you mean they don't get paid a lot or that they don't get any money at all?

Well I may be an old woman, which will mean I am entitled to moan like one.

Having a go at the first team is one thing, but in the academy case we are talking often about children and it is not fair or right to go at them which these reports do and you would not get anyone who has to be accountable do that. And any parent of a child who plays in the game cannot redress it because the poster is anonymous unlike a paper for example when they could hit back.

Is there something wrong with that or is the fact that this is a forum mean it doesn't matter what is written true or false?

They get the kind of money I am led to believe that is very minimal and less than you would get going to work. There are leagues in the Under 10s game as well but would you think of coming down on a team that got beat 18-0? They are only kids, leave them alone.

What I am trying to say is...

Red Rain has written a match report and that is it.

Its got nothing at all to do with you or the club for that matter what he wrote. Nothing. Nadda. Diddly flipping squat.

He doesn't have to write in a positive manner if he doesn't want to. He could just say I went to the game and they were all sh*t if he'd have wanted but he didn't. I think you need to understand your position on this board.

Everyone is free to write what they want. Site admin will delete posts that are crossing the BBS rules (see above sticky).

In my opinion the report didn't break any rules. Red Rain does not work for the club so has no affiliation with it. Get off your high horse and write your magazine and hope that the football on show backs up the propaganda your spreading from within the print.

No, I shouldn't think so but if it was your child of 14 that was being talked about badly would you be happy?
If you are going to write a report you should have 2 things - accuracy and accountability

Thanks for the advice mate, but I haven't said anything about a single one of them.

Why are you doing this ?

Why are you highlighting that ? If the lad concerned didn't play then the report was obviously faulty in that respect, but it's read by a few dozen on here and then forgotten. I'm not excusing downright lies or misinformation, but here I think RR has dropped a genuine clanger, but all you are doing is prolonging the debate and in my opinion not doing the young academy scholar any favours either.

Why is it so important that this BBS doesn't step out of line ? It is just an open forum. Tell you what Mark, go to The Groggers, O'Dwyers or any town pub on a matchday and you'll hear far far worse things said about BFC and its owners/players/directors/staff than is said on here - shall we start putting notices up correcting any untruths and/or rumours peddled in the pubs ?

I think RedRain is gentleman enough to apologise to the lads parents in this instance, but to start a campaign to stub out dissent on here on the back of a mistake like I think you are doing here is just plain daft in my opinion.

Barnsley Football Club belongs to us all - whether we're negative bairning fckers or happy clappers who can see no wrong - we've all got an opinion and they're all valid. We go on what we see/hear/read, and draw our own conclusions. If the internet has to be sanitised so individuals at the club don't take offence then just say so and we'll keep quiet on here. We'll still think the same things though....
