This lot here give us 6 mixed bottles of wine at Christmas (usually 3 white, 2 red, and a pink/rose), but I've never been a fan of the stuff.
I'd much rather have a crate of Heineken or Moretti or Kronenbourg for example.

Small shot of Cachaca. Neat. No lime.

Then been on water all night, like a good lad.

When I can afford it Brunello di Montalcino, something more affordable a Lirac or Sangiovese. A dry white either NZ Sauvignon Blanc or a Picpoul from Languedoc.

That’s what we thought - my grandad was a bit of a buff even if I wasn’t and aren’t now - though Uncle Alec thought it was marvellous.

Though to be fair I’m not sure he was the greatest judge - he was a wartime escapee from Poland who got to the U.K. as a young teenager - credited with getting his older sister and mother to safety to boot - he was used to having less than nothing; he disliked literally nothing food wise, he ate absolutely anything and loved it - so I assume his taste buds were inclined to like it when he’d paid £250 for a case of 12 of them on a trip to France (incidentally he went on the Eurostar, saying something like how it’d have been ‘a lot ******* easier in 1940 if there was a tunnel then’. I have a lot of respect for this man, sadly long gone, though I didn’t know him well. He was and is my mums absolute hero though). Anyway, I digress.

In 1997 this was too - £250 was a lot then. Not a snip now in fairness. With inflation you’d be looking at £570 - £47.50 a bottle. I’d say it wasn’t worth £47.50 for all 12.

Blimey I can ramble on. You can tell Rhys knocked off at half nine in the end and so I’ve had time to have a few sherbets since then…

A bottle or two of local apple homebrew cider.

I must be a peasant ....Red wine to me tastes like something I imagine you'd use to de-rust old car parts in.

I've tried...my son's a wine drinker and I've tried what he finds acceptable...and over the years friends have offered me drinks that are supposed to be decent, but tbh I find them all so dry and acidic, ie one glass followed by a box of Rennies....rather like drinking chipshop non brewed condiment.
