I remember that Orient game at Oakwell as well and was so looking forward to seeing Norman Dean who had played fairly recently in European competition for Cardiff. Despite the weight issue he certainly looked a class act and went on to become one of my favourite Reds players. Of course, this wasn't too long after our promotion from the Fourth Division and it was still a bit of a novelty seeing "big" clubs like Orient come to Oakwell. They had enjoyed a taste of the First Division and had obviously slipped down to the Third Division but they still seemed a bit exotic to me. Biggish London club, coming up to Barnsley. The good times were back
Thanks for the enquiry, BMW. I had the right kidney removed the day we beat Bolton at Oakwell in the play-offs. I was home like a shot after three days, spurred on by the thought of being able to watch the game which I had recorded. That just leaves the tumour in my pancreas, which is benign and which they are trying to sort out by monthly immunotherapy injections - not nice side effects, but I have deliberately put back my next one until after this weekend, so I can watch the game in comfort. I am told that I have an excess of serotonin, which is called the 'happiness hormone' and that it may be this which might cause the tumour to grow, so I am telling folks that I have 'Ken Dodd syndrome' - signature tune = "Happiness" for those not of an age! I am okay health wise and definitely won't be stopping the game on Saturday for a medical emergency. I wouldn't be coming if there was any risk of that. Thanks so much for asking. Appreciated. COYR a win = a tonic
Looking forward to this one given the excellent recent record of Orient. I’m predicting an open game with both sides having an attacking intent. Feeling very positive as well, 3-1 us, Devante. 2 and McAtee
Thats great news.I'm just waiting for my results after my 3rd CT scan, always feel anxious until I find out.
