1.89 XSnogs the last time I went out in town. I thought we did OK tonight tbf, on another night we win easily.
That was not utter crap tonight. Reading had the luck, with a deflected first goal and then one back off the bar for the second. We had similar scenarios but it just didn't drop for us. Having said that, although Reading's defence was the worst I've seen all season, we couldn't put in anything like a decent cross from either side that gave our attackers much of a chance. Corners were different and pretty good, and then we got to see that if a decent cross had indeed actually come in, nobody knows how to head a ball in the net.
I only saw the last half hour and just that bit was quite a tough watch. The tactic in that part of the game seemed to be throw the ball in the box and hope, float the ball in the box and hope or hope we get a free kick or corner. Too much hope not enough drive and intent. Fair play to Earl for taking his first goal well, but again, percentage football and it just happened to drop to him. I’ve just seen the first two goals, good finish from Dunn (though a bit lucky it went through the defenders legs and that the defender marking him was the only one who didn’t know he wanted to cut inside) and a fortuitous goal for reading to go with their second. It’s just all very frustrating that we’re getting chances, largely not created or very well worked but we can’t take them and then at the other end we give ridiculously soft goals away. The second in particular is a shocking piece of defending from the usual suspect.
There's somewhere in the region of 4,000 ex regulars that would strongly disagree with you there. This is not new, it's been happening from game 1, hence the low crowds, people are not daft.
well everybody is entitled to an opinion, but IMHO that's total ******** ( well apart from Cosgrove coming on when we needed goals)
Every corner or free kick into the box is a penalty. The amount of shirt pulling and practically rugby tackling players is more ridiculous than I’ve seen it at both ends.
The fact is with every passing window the quality within the squad is reduced and it's been that way since the various new investors took the reins
I am posting about tonight's game, nothing else. And I suspect that you do not have the mandate to speak for 4000 about tonight's game.
I think we gave up the impetus with that sub. We were well on top and DKD was involved a lot. He’s a very clever player, with excellent movement. bringing Cosgrove on tempts the defenders to launch it up the pitch, but sadly super Sam is no good with his noddle. Or his feet for that matter. a very poor substitution from Clarke. Jalo would have been a better idea and gone like for like
They don’t give pens - only free kicks for the defending side. Although if Phillips kept hugging that reading player he wouldn’t have scored the nd goal - let him go and then tried to pull him back by his shirt to no avail.
I love how the ref will blow before the corner to warn the players about shirt pulling or holding and when the corner comes in the ref never sees anything wrong. Thought tonights ref wasn't bad, even more so considering his name.
This might be a controversial opinion but I thought we played very well tonight. There’s been numerous games that we’ve won where we didn’t play as well. I saw a deflected shot for the first & a bit of luck for the second with a ball bouncing off the crossbar straight to their lad to give them the lead. I don’t think they had any control in the game at any point. We created far more chances but more importantly I thought we were on it from the start playing at a good tempo & competing for everything. I’ve seen others refer to us going a bit flat. I know we’ve been guilty of that at times but I didn’t really see that tonight. Maybe caught cold a bit early in the second half but again it’s a deflected shot from distance, it wasn’t like we were under the cosh. Frustrating that we didn’t win but no major grumbles from me tonight.
21 attempts on goal...just need better conversion....a team creating chances is what any coach or fan without an agenda would want.
