Do the team watch replays of games, if so, how come they can't see that letting the opposition have the ball in the last third for more than half a game is not a good tactic.
Got what they deserved there. A very poor half, relying on clearing the defence to nobody. As soon as Stockport equalise, Barnsley remember how to attack again. So, where was that all half?
Mate if you watched that and thought it was ok I'm a bit worried. Went 1 up early doors against a newly promoted side and tried to shut up shop. We offered absolutely nothing. If we'd have had chance after chance and keeper played a blinder and they grabbed a point then fair enough but it wasn't the case. Super sloppy in middle. Giving it away far too easily, and far too many hopeful balls up in air for striker to try and win. Crap
At least we tried to pass and play something remotely resembling the game of football. We had no intention to even try to play. We think these players are good but either they’re not as good as we think they are or they are deliberately being told to just hoof it aimlessly by the manager.
ian I'm genuinely interested to hear what we did that was ok. We cant defend a lead or kill a game off. We gave balls over to them through passing or giving it away in possession. I struggle to know what our game plan is when long balls have no-one picking up second balls of the big lads. Squandered the chances we had and was given a leaaon in pass and move. I guess despite that we got a point. What did we do well enough to win?
Abit harsh on humphreys as he hasn't been here long. Watters Cosgrove and Marsh aren't great options. Although the footballs abit negative. When we have to opportunity to play it forwards we go back.
Very worrying stuff, it’s still early days, but we just don’t seem to be showing any sign of improvement. We look so disjointed & look as though 11 players have been scrambled together at the last minute. There doesn’t seem to be any cohesion present between the players, no patterns of play, or signs of some sort of system Clarke wants us to play, apart from lump it. Players don’t seem to know their roles or what do on/off the ball, unlike Duffs team for example, he had them well drilled. We are in a false position in the table, & expect to see us slide down into mid table in the coming weeks, unless Clarke works miracles.
We were utter garbage and got more than we deserved with a point. Going forward we are dreadful the midfield seem to think it's ok to stroll through games playing fancy flicks that give possession away far too easily and as usual the defence prove once again that trying to hang on to leads is beyond them but they aren't helped by a midfield who can't hold on to possession for more than 30 seconds.
That fealt like the longest second half I've ever seen. More like 120 minutes than 45 we were that poor!
It's a decent result because Stockport were the much better team. Disappointing that we conceded in injury time, but after the first 10 or 15 minutes, we didn't do anything, so we can't complain. I thought we defended very well, Roberts was excellent, and despite Stockport's dominance in two thirds of the field, we limited them to very few chances because, for once, the defence looked sold (although MDG really didn't). We're capable of playing well for small periods in a game a getting a goal or two, but the overall performances are quite poor. The results aren't though, they're OK (Stevenage apart). I doubt we can continue playing like this and getting the same sort of return though.
I can recall a lot of fans suggesting we didn't have a defined style of play under Collins. He looks like Pep compared to this bloke.
Marsh and Cosgrove are poor. Miles below the standard needed. Is Watters injured? He’s a much better option off the bench.
