Classic BBS this. We hammer the ref for 90 minutes, then when he says he was wrong, we decide it doesn't matter and decide the players were at fault instead.
Ref was awful. So is our defending of set pieces. Putting these together is a recipe for disaster for us.
FairPlay to the ref for this. Did he admit the disallowed goal was an error too! he really was beyond poor.
I can’t believe no one has commented on this slur, especially on Holocaust Memorial Day! No need for it.
Please explain. Re the sensitivity. It’s a term frowned upon admittedly. But not uncommon for someone with long hair.
Which mistake? The foul on Woodrow for the disallowed goal? The corner when they headed it out? The blatant diving left right and centre by Cardiff? Or the few penalties we should have had for shirt pulling in the box? Is that not a foul anymore because it happens every match.
Can admin please publish a list of acceptable derogatory terms we can all use when venting our spleen on here so as not to upset anyone. People using any other names will be barred
How about we stick to terms that deride their footballing ability and not use derogatory terms for a group of people that were persecuted for their beliefs and way of life on an annual day of memorial for them? Is Flint even Romany? Or was it supposed to be a double insult, not just going for the most insulting way of referring to someone who is but in fact using it as an insult in the first place? To me, there's a few things going on here: 1) using Romany as an insult 2) using the most derogatory way to refer to Romany people to insult them further 3) using that particular insult on the Holocaust Memorial Day. It doesn't matter how commonly used it is, it's wrong.
But it was not used in that way. Most would understand what he meant and took it that way. May not be politically correct. But don’t look for something that’s not meant in the way you wish to perceive. Opinions. Eh .
It feels like the entire BBS these days is people using unacceptable and antiquated terms, phrases, sayings, stereotypes etc. Half of the posters call them out on it, then the other half complain about “PC gone mad” and that they should be allowed to be racist, sexist etc. Without being called out for it.
Seriously. For me he was quoting his long hair. As most used to do with anyone with long hair eg ( David Currie and myself.) If not, I’ll stand corrected. It was and is a chant still used widely.
I literally don't understand this one. Someone used an insulting term that literally everyone knows is an insulting term and yet somehow people are trying to pretend that it's not insulting? What's ever better, is that they are trying to pretend it's not insulting whilst also saying 'it's not PC' and admitting it is 'frowned upon'. How can it be either of those things and also not insulting?
If you go looking. Then expect reprisals that don’t necessarily agree. Racist/sexist my arse. Get a grip
Ignoring the fact that his hair style has nothing to do with his footballing ability as people seem obsessed with hair on here, he didn't say 'he was battered into Smithies by that long haired cheat' did he? He called him a gypo, as an insult, on Holocaust Memorial Day.
There's nothing to agree or disagree with. He called him a gypo, as an insult. He didn't mean it as a complement did he? What if he'd have said 'he got battered into smithies by the Jew?' Would you then have said, 'no it's ok, he only called him that because of (insert commonly held trope against Jewish people here)'?
