Ref v Bolton

Currently scheduled to be South Yorkshire's James Bell - a self-confessed 'massive' Sheffield Wednesday fan.

Surely another appointment that comes into question - albeit both teams may have legitimate grievances over this one?!

(He's also the ref that Ipswich complained about and got removed last season).

 

Shouldn't even be discussed. Yep, they can make mistakes, but they're just professional match officials doing their job. Let's not turn into Ipswich/Derby over stuff like this. Didn't help Attendance FC much on setdi.

 

There is quite a big difference between a self-confessed massive Sheffield wednesday fan and an Huddersfield fan who got rejected from our academy when he was a boy, to be fair mate.

 

Not for me. If you want a conspiracy theory, then won't he be fully aware of this extra scrutiny on him to get decisions right?

 

James plays cricket for us and he's a great lad.
His integrity shouldn't be questioned before a balls kicked just because he's a piggy.
However, should he get anything wrong it will be a long cricket season for him

 

I'm not calling for his change, bud. All I'm saying is I can see why some fans would question it and the difference between this and the Derby outcry.

 

I'm guessing 99.9% of refs follow a professional team.

 

The difference is I would hope we'll not bairn about it.

 

The main point was that they seem to be breaking their own rules as AFAIK there is a standing rule that someone can't be appointed to ref a team from the same county FA area (unless both teams are, such as Uriah Rennie doing Reds v Doncaster). Maybe something's changed.

 

I'll be popping over to watch Paul if he fekks up. I can't bowl a cricket ball. but I can chuck one. especially from 2yds tell him.

If I was a ref. And covering a leeds game. I'd be unbiased. Honest.

 

Obviously Sheffield Wednesday are so massive that their fans couldn’t care less about how a little team down the road do.

 

If Bell is kept in the role, we won't hear the end of it.

 

Flip it around, I’d love the opportunity to referee a game as big as this one at Hillsborough.

I’d try to be neutral, but also make sure they came off the pitch losing by at least 20, I might not be allowed out to referee the second half though.

 

where do you play cricket mate out of interest?

 

Make sure how you ask him how a blatant push is overlooked in front of him and his assistant but less than 30 seconds later results in a pen to them. ‍♂️
