I agree. I went with 6 given he did well for the majority of the game but the goal had 2 big decisions wrong.
Couldn't work out whether he was 'letting the game flow' because that was his genuine intent or because he was that unfit that he didn't fancy blowing and having to run across to the incidents. Well behind play for a lot of the game too. Generally felt like he gave us marginally the better of the 50:50 calls until the point towards the end of the first half where the Bristol fans gave him a few decently loud rounds of the '**** ref' song (something we never seem to do - we just moan about refs afterwards on here) and then he seemed to favour them in similar incidents. No qualms with the free-kick leading to their goal, total bonehead play from Lopata costing us two points, no need at all to raise his hands towards the defender when the ball was going out for a corner to us.
I dont think anyone is disputing Rovers were the better side and deserved at least a point but this is a post about the referee, and he made a mistake which led to a goal that shouldnt have stood - thats why people marked him down. The fact that until Sinclair came on Bristol didnt have a player who could hit a barn door isnt anything to do with the ref Would we have marked him down the same if the error had led to us scoring - probably not as much
Just watching a replay and it looks to me like the defenfer overbalanced and fell backwards into Lopata who would instinctively put his hands up to protect himself. Can see why ref would give it in real time though.
