Re: Nigel Miller was the referee when Thanks imer red. What exactly was it about my joke at the expense of the most unpopular ref in the country, trevor kettle, was it that you disliked?
That's not actually a booking. Nothing in rules to say they have to give it back. But their should be, especially as teams are doing rugby style kicks into the corner for throw ins (golbourne for example).... Definate penalty, and yes a couple of hand balls. One I thought blatent and stood up and shouted for it, felt a bit embarrassed cos I seemed to be the only one who did lol
Was that the handball where their player seemed to literally slap the ball with his hand in the middle of the pitch or another one? And after the sheffield united/arsenal game where they scored from a throw in I remember a referee going on TV and explaining that the referee should have booked kanu for unsporting behaviour because that covers anything and everything unsporting and is designed so that the game doesnt need a million rules to cover every possible eventuality.
Can't remember which hand ball tbh... Unsporting behavior is so vague its why it causes so many issues (trust me, I'm a qualified ref (well I was, never renewed it)). It's at the discretion of a referee what is classed as not in the spirit of play. You will be hard pushed to find a booking for not giving the ball back. Looking at it another way, a player could kick the ball out and then start moaning for it back saying he thought their player was injured. Therefore wasting time (also unsporting). So you could end up in a very awkward situation.
Thought he tried to let the game flow. Yes, he didn't get everything right, but my favourite officials are those who let the game flow and seem loathe to make themselves centre stage. Best ref I've seen this season. And I don't think the Kennedy incident was a penalty either. Looking forward to seeing the full match replay to be sure.
