    is your argument not falled

by the fact that you say the players who have left are playing in the lower league yet you also say that not all of SD signings are a success and are likely to leave to lower leagues so are you not contradicting yourself here?

The only possible players that could leave for a prem club are Howard (AR signing) and Muller (SD signing), to judge the strength of the team on where the players who have left to jon is a poor one surely you would judge this on where we have signed players from and the quality of them?

So if Howard leaves does that mean the squad is weaker than before SD took over as he was an AR signing?

Of course it would, and would a 20 goal a season striker and...

...Stevie Gerrard to bolster midfield, but that isn't going to happen. I would much rather us be self sufficient as a club, punching above our weight than reliant on a millionaire who can withdraw funds at any time a la Gretna. Cryne is trying to get us to run independently of funds and I would rather do that in League One than go down the boom or bust route agina and find ourselves in Bournemouth/Rotherham etc position

Just point out which of the 4 facts are not actual facts

Have we a far far better team and a better squad than 18 months ago.......................................YES
We Have players in the side that are worth more money than this time 18 months ago. Example, Muller, Maken, De Silva. That is to say the value of the team is more valuable and hence 'better'..........this is a FACT

Have we safeguarded our position in the Championship league..................................................YES
I'm sure we didn't get relegated.........hence this is a FACT

In the mean time did we go to Wembley in the semi final of the FA Cup......................................YES
I'm sure I went to Wembley and watched Barnsley FC in a semi final of the FA Cup..........hence this is a FACT

Did we achieve this success on a shoe string budget compared to other Championship clubs.........YES
Example............a Sheffield United striker cost £4 million and costs £2 million per year in wages, how much doe's other clubs in the Championship such as WBA pay in wages compared to Barnsley FC...........hence this is a FACT

So for those that say that this season has been poor and we have a poor manager - you need to sit down and realise what Barnsley FC have acheived this season
Its been a fantastic season and a season that SD and the board of directors can build on (nodding2fingers)

Odejayi is a better player than Richards

And every manager has hit and misses, and when you have a shoestring budget you have to take bigger gambles.

Sir Alex Ferguson - Veron, Tiaibi, Poborsky, Jordi Cruyff, Forlan, Djemb Djemba,

who says that the players are worth more? I'm sure that strikers that were scoring last season are worth more than load that aren't this season.

You say that howard, de silva, macken, etc are worth a lot. says who? Have clubs put offers in writing for these players then? Presumably they have?

Just when i thought you were getting the hang of it as well!

Look, I am of the same opinion as you on point 1 but it is not a fact. I note you are now shifting your criteria for judging how much better the team is cos your first one was shot down in flames. Neither you nor I know how much the team is worth so we are only guessing. Can't be a fact.

2 and 3 are certainly facts. Of course Staying up is an either "we did or we didn't" and I was at the semi-final so I can verify that we got that far in the cup.

As for 4? Well, it is presented as a fact by you but in truth you haven't really backed it up very well. If we had a table of spending then you'd be in a stronger position.

Come on - admit it - 1 and 4 aren't very good factually.

    Sometimes poor, sometimes *****

Sometimes average, sometimes good, sometimes brilliant.

How did we play when we beat Chelsea? Were we poor or utter *****?

I know you are entitled to an opinion, but to describe the BEST we have played as poor is ........well, utter *****!

No idea. Definitely not at work, though. Honest.
I should have said FACT, shouldn't I? There were a small number of games where we rose above the ordinary, Chelsea being one of them. Overall, the standard of football this season on the whole has been poor.

    That's easier to follow

Still not sure I agree particularly in the first half of the season. Up to Christmas I thought there were several games where we played OK without being outstanding and one or two really good performances

2nd half of season though (except the cup games) was poor at times particularly away, I give you that.

    Davey Makes Me Laugh

He says he wants to keep Howard and yet goes and brings up no bids coming in FOUR TIMES in the same article. It's almost like he's wanting bids to come in (doh) (doh) (doh)

Bright Red...........are you making this up as you go along ???

You say 1 and 4 are NOT facts...................lets see

    1) Have we a far far better team and a better squad than 18 months ago.......................................YES
We can only assess whether the team is better by comparing the valuation of the team left by Ritchie and the current squad built by Simon Davey.
You are saying that the team that was left by Ritchie before Davey took over i.e. Colgan, Austin, Heckingbottom, Richards, Wright, Hayes et al is worth more than Muller, Sousa, Foster, De silva, JCR, Maken, Leon.................that is what you are saying..............if you are actually saying this then I'm sorry to say that you are definitly WRONG
Just for an example, Everton wanted £1.5 million for De Silva........a compromise was made and the actual amount wasn't released. But if the amount was only half of that amount it is still worth more than the list of players listed above what Ritchie left us..........add to that the value being talked about with Muller and you have lost the argument hands down.
Repeat............. Have we a far far better team and a better squad than 18 months ago........................YES

    4) Did we achieve this success on a shoe string budget compared to other Championship clubs.........YES
I have given you 2 examples already.......I'm sure there's more.
But what you are saying is this..........the Barnsley budget is more expensive than other Championship clubs.
Its not..........therefore, the following is a FACT...............Did we achieve this success on a shoe string budget compared to other Championship clubs.........YES

    1 and 4.............are FACTS :D :D :D

Cough! I think that may well refer to you!

    1. "We can only assess whether the team is better by comparing the valuation of the team left by Ritchie and the current squad built by Simon Davey" - why? Are you saying that more expensive is better? - your opinion. Even your valuation (of one player!) is conjecture at best!!
Also, if it's the only way to assess, did you assess the squad in a diffent way originally (You were on about players leaving to play for lower league teams but then dropped that when shown to be a load of toss)
Have we a better team and better squad than 18 months ago? Probably, I reckon we have - OPINION.

4."Two examples ...I'm sure there are more". That's proof???
Where did I say that "the Barnsley budget is more expensive than other Championship clubs"? How do I know? How do you know?.....You don't, you are only guessing. It may be a fact that has some basis or it may be a spurious fact.

1 and 4 ....are FACTS (please note the capitals)

    P.S. I'd give up if I were you :D

Yer can Cough! as much as you like...............FACT

    1) You say..............Are you saying that more expensive is better? ..........yes I am saying that. How else can you measure a players ability .............please tell (be interested to hear this one) ???
    Therefore..............its a FACT

4.You say................"Two examples ...I'm sure there are more". That's proof???.............yes one example is enough two is even better
Sheffield United bought a player for £4 MILLION ..........that is more than we payed for all our squad
Therefore, in comparrison our squad was put together on a shoe string..........FACT

You can have as many opinions as you want...........but a FACT is a FACT is a FACT.......and you can't squirm your way out of it

Chelsea are in the championship? When did that happen?

I thought that bright red was saying that it is not a fact that barnsley spent less money than other CHAMPIONSHIP club's when you do not know a. how much barnsley have spent, and b. how much other clubs have spent. He is also saying that you do not know the true value of barnsley players if again you do not know how much they originally cost and there have been no offers for them. any guess at a value is just that, a guess.</p>

not exactyl rocket science is it</p>

    You've lost it big time!!!!

The Chelsea squad is worth more money than the Barnsley squad. Yes that probably is a fact. Strangely though I've never questioned that!!!

Shaun Wright-Phillips is twice as good as Frank Lampard - FACT (well he cost twice as much so he must be)
