Very sad news. I used to enjoy his posts - 52 is no age to die. My thoughts are with his family

    Re: Very Sad

Like Farnham I put his lack of posts down to the new format. I remember back in his days posting as Liz Smith he took one of my posts the wrong way in I think it was a thread about youths ****ing around, around his house one night. We soon got past it and he was one of my favourite posters on here. One of the long list of reasons I no longer post here regularly is the lack of characters from when I first signed up here, and that includes Lizzie himself. Used to chuckle at his old school views that you should be able to stand and smoke at football still and the cost of what it is today. Be nice if someone set up something like a Just Giving account so the BBSers could make a donation to a charity/cause close to the nature of his passing. For someone I never met I feel like I knew him quite well. That was the beauty of the board a few years ago. RIP Morty :)

    Amen to that Dreamy.
Didnt know the guy offline, but read his posts over the years and I too found him a much missed character and put it down to the format change. Very sad to hear of his passing and hope he is in peace in the great forum in the sky.
    RIP mate.

RIP Mort, a really sad day for this BBS. One of the characters has gone, but wont be forgotten.

Life can be a ****er sometimes - 52 years old, that's utter pants.

Such a shame. He used to come on the BBS late at night (UK time) so we would sometimes exchange views. Loved his "old-fashioned" principles and, more than anything, his love for decent music (and good old Bess). RIP.

RIP Uncle Mort. Didn't know him but he always seemed a decent, honest man from his postings on here. Eclectic taste in music.

in the days when this board didnt shut down at 5pm after everyone goes home from work

and it had a life that went late on into the night, Morty was one of my main late night sparring partners, boring the crap out of us all with his 60's folk rock youtube postings..... Although I never knew him personally I did know he'd been ill. I didnt realise it was so serious and I'm truly shocked to hear the news.

Whenever I drive past the Anglers Rest I'll always think of Morty

    RIP Old Pal

Sincerest condolences to his family & all that knew him.

Never knew him personally, but, through his contributions on here, it felt as if I did.

    Sad, sad news.

I knew Dave very well, a great mate, drinking pal and a good all round fella.
He was the first one outside of my immediate faminly that I fetched to see the boat, before we had converted it for living on, I will never forget his first words after coming aboard " Can I have a smoke in here? Tha`s got some bloody work on to get this finished!" Well when we did finish it and moved aboard I brought him back, his response this time was" Well tha`s done alright here Marky lad, I`ll just nip outside for a cig while tha pours me a beer".

    RIP Dave.

Sorry but i seem to have misled people with Daves age, he was 57, i was just his friend from 4 or 5 yrs old when we both started Kings Road School.
