I’d be surprised if 78 wasn’t enough for 6th. Cardiff could maybe sustain the form they’d shown under mccarthy to get towards that, but Bournemouth’s form would need to improve significantly to reach that many points.

Whether we get that many, who knows. It’s a crazy league when you get to the run in. The next two could be the toughest games of the ten remaining

 

We’ve not done badly in the attritional games to be fair, but they are fighting for their lives

 

Wouldn’t like to predict any of them. All winnable, even Norwich who won’t have anything to play for (but will we?) but all tough for different reasons.

3 local derbies though? Is there still local pride at stake with no fans?

Wycombe are scrappers - I expect that to be a tough game.

Bournemouth have 56 points, Cardiff 54. They both have 3 games against top 8 teams. I would be surprised if they manage more than 20 points. I think 6 wins or even 5 wins and a couple of draws will see us in the play offs. If we want to challenge for automatic we need to win every game.

 

I honestly can't fo predict or give out a gut feeling because ive never seen a barnsley team like this like most of you old gits . Ill sit back and learn...

 

Cardiff are nearly as far behind us as we are behind second spot. Obviously there are plenty of twists and turns left, but they can't afford to drop too many more points if they're going to stay in contention.

 

On current form we'll win the Champions League in 2023.

Whatever we do over the remaining 10 games, in order to be beaten to a playoff place Reading have to match our results and Bournemouth have to beat our points tally by 5. Or Cardiff by 7 and Middlesbrough by 8 if Reading and Bournemouth slip up. Etc. We've all played the same number of games so that is not a factor. This is a great position to be in.

We're capable of beating any team in the division. Every team in this division is capable of beating us. Our team is undoubtedly greater than the sum of its parts. We're in an elevated position in the league because our style of play is so new and it hasn't been found it. It will be and that advantage will be lost. But on a more level playing field we'll still win games because the quality in the squad is capable of winning games in any system. And our manager instills a sense of belief in our players.

Maybe our style of play won't be found out before the end of the season and the form will continue, although Bournemouth are the first club to demonstrate how vulnerable we can be to the right ball played over the top.

I think we'll come up against teams who cope with our style better than the teams we've played recently. It may even be Wednesday and Wycombe. But I don't expect us to go on a long losing run. The mentality of the manager and the squad doesn't fit with that scenario.

If we get half the points available from the 30 remaining then Bournemouth need 20, or Cardiff 22, or Middlesbrough 23 and that's when you realise just what a great position we're in.

 

I'm laughing at that. It's just so daft, I can't help it. Even though it's true.

I'm starting to feel a bit compromised. I hate the Premier League and everything that goes with it. I don't want us anywhere near it, it's a complete shitfest. I was looking forward to establishing ourselves as a solid top half Championship club, and now look what we've gone and done. I can see us making the play-offs and smashing them. I can genuinely see us playing in the top flight next season. It's going to be brilliant... and awful. I won't know whether to laugh or cry.
