    No true Barnsley fan could say they were bored throughout that era. We had a top class centre half pairing of McCarthy and Evans, a midfielder who could dribble his way through defences as if they weren't there, and then score (Glavin) or one who just banged it in from distance, usually scoring (Banks). Then we had a great number nine who migrated north from Chelsea and played out of his skin for us (Aylott). A great team that were within a whisker of getting to the First Division.

    What a great sight that would have been!

    I wasn't around in them days to be able to say, but personally i like seeing changes and things that you wanted dont happen. makes the game that bit more exciting ( and annoying)

    Sadly I also remember the Jim Iley days when Barnsleys name changed to Barnsley Nil away from home !

    The St Johns Ambulance shelters by the corner flag c/w volunteers - age of the said volunteers were the combined age of the team (almost)

    and who werent too proud to sit on the wall and chat to you doing a break in play....the lads used to do it often....brewery stand.....


    and dont forget the back wall that stunk of **** cos the brewery stand bogs werent big enough lol
