all I will say is imagine if Cole had missed it, the thread would be on 25 pages by now, no ones perfect , he missed it, but credit for being there in first place for the chance
It’s not the open goal people make it out to be. A need a first time right footed shot back across the goal to score really. He probably should have tried taking a touch with him being left footed and played from that really.
Yes. Apart from that goalkeeper between the ball and the goal. Needed one of Thomas or Connell to trust their right foot. Neither did. Needed Norwood in that position really, but he was probably done in after running himself to the ground from the minute he came on.
Only if he had taken it earlier on his right foot and even then the keeper was coming across - left footed he probably needed to pass it back in at the far post behind the keeper. It was a great chance but not the tap in some would have us believe
And on the comparison between this and the Odejayi chance. I'm a hell of a lot more confident in us being in a position to win promotion back to the Championship, than I am of us getting to an FA Cup final.
As I've alluded to before, it really annoys me how many professional footballers are so one footed. It's more often than not left footed players too who are worst for it and just won't use their right foot. When they train for two or three hours most days of their professional life it's pretty unforgiveable. Same applies to tackling as shooting too, you see it so often. Connell is a great player but why on earth he couldn't take that ball on his right foot is beyond me, it's just unnatural to let the ball pass across your body, especially from behind like that ball was. Two thirds of the goal is gaping if he side foots that with his right.
In fairness to Thomas, he'd done the hard work in creating an opening for himself on his left foot. Connell probably wasn't really expecting it to come to him, Thomas should have shot. I'm not shying away from the fact that Connell really still should have scored.
I keep having this recurring nightmare that I'm back at my parents at 37 years old. Feeling like the 40 year old virgin with model railways and collectables to keep me company. Might invest in one of those rubber vaginas. If it worked for Steve Carrell it can for me.
