Huddersfield announced that they were taking up the option of another year for Oscar Gobern, as we should have done for Etuhu. They also didn't have anyone on holiday in limbo like Marlon. I just think that the fans deserve better communication with regards to our two players in question.
I think Marlon wont be with us next season, have thought this for months. He was a panic acquisition in the first place once the realisation, from Keef, that Mido had ****** Keefs net. Under Flicker he has improved, along with several others, and shared a good partnership with Daggers, however, once O`Grady came Marlon was always gonna be second fiddle and sometimes third with Scotland scoring off the bench. Harewood or Scotland Hassell or Foster My thinking on who he will let go.
My thinking too. I like Marlon and he's done a job, but even though Scotland is slightly older, he's a better scoring option, holds the ball up well and has better mobility and trickery. Obviously if Marlon goes we've only Dagnall and Rose signed up at present. Hopefully Scotland will re-sign and then it's a case of getting O'Grady or a similar sort of replacement.
I think if we were going to release Marlon, he'd be on that list already. We don't need to wait for him to come off holiday to release him. What this says to me is that we are going to offer him a new deal but on reduced wages. Which would be fair enough imo and it will then be up to him as to whether he accepts the pay cut. I hope he re-signs.

Etuhu still has a year left on his contract. I think he is on holiday so a further annoucment will be made for him when he returns.

I think footballer's will be able to afford mobile phones. I think he'll know the situation and he'll have seen the retained/released list. It just looks to me like they're waiting for him to come back so they can discuss his terms in more depth.
Another thing re Marlon is that his position at the football club may well be being dictated by COG. Similar type of player.. if we get one, we don't need the other might be the thinking.
O'Grady won't be on it - he is still under contract at Wednesday - if we want him we have to pay for him.
