The new Dangermouse is great as we both like it though when we play it after I sulk if I have to be Penfold. I will give Superted a go. Mine loves Trapdoor though the catchphrase I loves a bit of bonking is weird coming from a 3 year old.

    Nouvelle Vague - aaaaaaaaargh

Taking classic new wave songs, playing them over a bossa nova beat, singing them with a sultry French accent, does not make the songs more interesting or sophisticated. There's obviously a market out there for people who genuinely think this is art, but it is not, it's a gimmick.
It sounds like comedy music that Alan Partridge would play.

I can't hold it in any longer!

I must complain about your picking on The Laughing Gnome.

Bowie was not famous when he did the Laughing Gnome.

So he's been shot for being young and experimental and naive. And for trying to make a career.

So plenty of reasons to shoot our young footballers at the academy or near the first team then?

Then when you listen to it, it's obviously a comedy song, not without a certain charm. Why should you get shot for that?

It's far more thoughtful than "daa daa daa" or "I'm to sexy for"etc. Or anything by any manufactured boy band. Ever. In the world of popular music.

And he wrote it himself!! (doh!)

I have some sympathy for your argument...............but it is a shocking piece of 'art'

In all fairness Mr Jones was capable of far, far better - Space Oddity 2 years later

I think he did "London Boys" a year before el gnomo.

    So no real excuse.

But he was going through changes.

And Space Oddity did him no favours for years.

Wish I'd had no favours from the likes of Space Oddity and Ziggy Stardust. I've had no favours from being talentless and lazy. And ****. The favours you don't get from that doesn't lead to much. David seems to have done a bit better.

My comment was based on that in my opinion, his Ziggy album was the beat he's done (and based on that one album I bought a fair few more) - it's a bit like the Feelgoods and their Stupidity album - their best album (imo) and (retrospectively) did them no favours at all - least not Wilko - Wilko left the Feelgoods (and whilst the remaining Feelgoods were still a RnB band) Bowie just tried to re-invent himself, sometimes well, sometimes not so well.
