I thought he backed up why he hated the board really well. My favourite reasons were......

    1) Not helping sign Mcphail and Chopra when both players wanted to sign for us.
    2) Players scattered in different hotels for a pre season tour rather than all together like they should be.
    3) Youth players being paid peanuts, which is why he'd bring them on as late subs to bump their wage with an appearance fee.
    4) Having Davey being the eyes and ears of the board. It was funny how they set Ritchie up so the board knew full well our managerial partnership were onto it.
    5) Bringing in players like Folo Onibuje who they had no interest in.

McPhail and Chopra wanted to sign did they? News to me.
I don't agree with the board signing players, but Howard was a steal. And Ritchie did turn down Billy Sharp, so...

+1 for Life At the Top. Really good book and a good bit of journalism. Interesting view of Danny from the first time around.

    Definitely recommend this one.

Does he mention the many trips he took with teammates to Spanish holiday islands? About 4 years running in the early 90's we went on holiday to Tenerife and Majorca and every year we bumped into him and the Oldham squad just after the season had ended!
