Amazing author who basically let's us normal folk know what went on inside the security services, good, bad and indifferent. Not always agreed on some of his opinions but he was a proud Brit with a strong ideal for our country to be a force for good. RIP Sir spent many hours lost in his books.

Love his books, recently read The Honourable Schoolboy for the umpteenth time. Wonderful story telling.

I've just finished re-reading Tinker Tailor.

Such a wonderful book. Espionage is not about James Bond gadgets or Jason Bourne explosion.

It's about dogged determination, following the paper trail, asking the right questions and being a fat ******* that never sleeps.

Here's his view of Brexit (might apply to Trump also):

"One day somebody will explain to me why it is that, at a time when science has never been wiser, or the truth more stark, or human knowledge more available, populists and liars are in such pressing demand."
