I can't disagree with that. But I've never wanted him to play left back, which is where he played today. He isn't a defender. But, he's still a better option there than Kennedy.

Reuben is a central attacker, be it midfield or up top. He's just never been used there (except once against Milwall where he scored from 30 yards).

He's been left back, left wingback, left wing, right wing etc. And pulled in and out of the team. The lads head must be well confused.

I think he's capable of playing behind the striker(s), or just off a striker ala Scotland. Has similar attributes to Jason as it goes.

Try going to the games you might be able to evaluate a player more easily than watching him on radio... I thought in the weird formation he did ok.

RNL has played all his young career as a winger/striker........and we now measure him on his ability as a left back or left wing back. It's not fair on the lad.

Maybe best thing for him is either a loan move or Flicker to be sacked and a manager that gives him a chance in his natural/coached position.

You are correct about Kennedy......how the **** did he get a starting shirt? For me, that in itself tells me how bad we are under Flicker....woeful player and woeful tactics.

I would sack Flicker now and don't give me any of this ballax as to who we would get in........I believe Warnock would give it a a go.

Ketchup and brown sauce together would be silly wouldn`t it? Might give it a go though.

Those old enough may remember Ronnie Glavin playing wide left midfield at Chesterfield in his second game for the club. He was told by Clarkie to mark their right back to stop him getting forward. Glavin told Clarke that he didn't mark players - they marked him - but Clarke insisted and, after 60 minutes of being a fish out of water, he was subbed and dropped for the next game away to Sheffield Utd which we lost 2-0. They played Blackburn away next game, Glavin was moved into his proper position, and scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory. Went on to become, without doubt, the best player I've seen in a Barnsley shirt.

The moral of the story - play your players in their best position (other than in an emergency). I personally think RNL is a terrific player but he may end up proving it away from Oakwell unfortunately.

Couldn't agree more. One of the brightest players we've had through the youth ranks since Eaden, Liddell and Moses. The same idiots who slag him off on here without ever seeing him play in his position used to call them ****. I despair sometimes.

Butterfield was wrote off by the same folk, when he was played ont wing.
Once he was put where he belonged, tunes changed.
