Think we have lacked a leader on the pitch since he left and maybe its what we are short of, however what he produced then to what he produces now could be totally different.

Mellis has at least 4 set-play assists, and Kennedy's corner taking is quality.

Everybody is assuming this Howard is the Howard that played for us in 2008. He isn't. Obviously.

    I'm loving this, though.

Makes for debate on a quiet BBS day.

I think its fair to mention our current players are second bottom of the league mainly due to lack of goals so any player that can improve scoring/creating department has to be worth a gamble!

    Agreed.

As I say, I'm not against it. Just a strange one. IMO of course.

    Up the Tarn.

    I wouldn't mind it

I accept he's probably not at the same level as 2008. However, that doesn't mean he can't strengthen the current squad & team.

Hope he proves me wrong too. Five goals in over 130 games since leaving us doesn't fill me with confidence.

If anyone tries to tell me that cykwa, done, etuhu, hassell, crainie, mcnulty etc can play central midfield so it's ok we don't need Howard needs looking at. a fit and fired up Brian Howard will be an asset we badly need

We don't have anyone that offers a goal threat from freekick from 30yards... Howard does, consitently!

Not energetic like Dawson/Perkins, but do we need two ball winners in a central pair... Mellis have good movement and plays good short/long passing game. But no one in current crop offer service like Howard can.

Can I just point out that it wasn't Rob Staton that broke this. It was Paul Walker. And it's Howard that wants a return, and it's now in Don's court, apparently.

Perkins slightly worse on stats before joining us , Dawson slightly better and yet two of our better performing players this season.

    Howard!! yes please

He hungry to prove himself.. and a leader on the field WE NEED THAT
we havent got a attacking midfielder able to score goals.. we need one to help our forwards out as carnt see us signing anyone prolific up front

PS he was on SOCCER AM and he looked very fit tbh he certainly wasnt overweight at all
infact as our lass said "he looked bloody well"

Carnt judge his time at portsmouth as that team is dire and thrown together as howard stated the first game he played for them he met the time 2 hrs proir to game not settled etc

also hate to say it but if we do fall and he stays to have his experiance in centre of park in league one will help a great deal

GET HIM BACK DON !!!! IF HE WANTS TO COME BACK WE HOLD THE CARDS

Well if it's up to Rowing then there's no chance of him coming back. :/

Cant see as a short term deal, to end of season and if he`s willing to come on the cheap, would do us much harm.

Could encourage one or two to come and have a peak at £20 a shot.
