    Re: blah blah

I cannot remember writing such a thing, but feel free to trawl through the old posts in search of my reports. In any event, no individual is mentioned in the above comment, so the charge that the individual who did make the remark was attacking individual players is still not proved. The club does not allow outside reporting of academy games. The Chronicle reports are edited versions of reports supplied by the club in most cases. Are you happy that the only accounts of young players are those supplied to you by the club, because if so, you have the perfect situation. Even having said this, I maintain that I was never critical of individual players in those report. I even refused to name the players who I felt were worth a contract when asked to do so by posters on here. I have never felt it necessary to defend myself on here before because, when the reports were readily available, allegations such as those made by Jay were never made because they were easy to disprove. The fact that these things are now hard to find means that Jay can sling his mud with impunity.

Re: What loyalty have we shown him?

Well, I am willing to give the club the benefit of the doubt and it is as simple as that, so I guess we should leave it there.

Don't care much for your quarrel with Jay, but I'd just like to state that I know for a fact that Jacob would have signed an extension last summer, but the club wanted to 'wait and see'. So the club didn't have much faith in him, obviously. And, let's say the lad never did anything of note last season, would the club have offered him a new deal??? I doubt it.

So, IMO, loyalty works both ways. Which is why I have defended the lad continuously on this forum.
The fact that I also (along with Jay and many many others) saw the talent in him a long time ago, just adds to the disappointment now we have lost him for what I presume will be a pittance, considering the lads ability at present, and huge potential. I seriously see him as an England squad member in the not too distant future. But that is my opinion, and I wouldn't expect it to be universally shared.

    Re: blah blah

I see that he has talent. He can pass and shoot with both feet for god's sake. However, the merits or otherwise of Jacob Butterfield was not the point of my original post. My point was that I felt that the club management was being attacked unfairly for lack of foresight, when based on his performances in the previous season and the opinion of his previous manager as witness by the fact that he started on very few occasions, he did not merit an improved long term contract. People who say he did must, by definition, be using hindsight to inform their decision based upon these facts.

**** me sideways how narrow minded and arrogant can you get?

Is it not possible that people had a different opinion to the manager or that they had FORESIGHT and could see he would become a good player?
