Your man Jimmy Jewel would have been different then would he on the spending front?

    Hill with Robins spending budget.

Or, even better, Hill with Davey's budget.

Generating funds from a decent cup run and signing players and turning a profit. Thats the formula that Davey followed and Robins didnt.

Surely the cost of the loans is pure speculation. I thought most of his loan signings were pretty decent but I just question how valuable their contribution was at the time they were signed i.e McShane and Harewood. Still, that was the board's decision they control the purse strings and they chose to back him. Just like they chose to back Davey to spend over £1m on a ten goal a season striker.

But Davey only spent the money he raised from taking us to Wembley. And Hume (I assume you are refering to) had scored goals at Championship level and was coming into form prior to getting a career injury. Speculation is that had Morgan not almost killed him he'd have got 15 goals plus for us that season.

He went down as that before he had even took charge of a game in your mind, if truth be known.

Unfortunately we will never know how many he would have scored but in my opinion he did not justify that price tag. Davey also spent on Odejayi, Christiansen and Mossto who were all shocking signings. Yes he did generate money from the cup run but it could have been spent far more wisely.

At the end of the day, the manager tells the board he wants a player and they make the decision if we can afford him. Davey wanted Mossto and the board back him. Robins wanted McShane and the board backed him.

But the point stands that because the board backed their managers (maybe more than they should have) Keith Hill is now picking up the pieces.

'I want Stephen Dobbie' ends up with 'I suppose we'll have Dagnall instead'

Exactly the manager asks, the board decide.

Picking up the pieces is what he wanted/appealed to him or he would have stayed at Rochdale.

I'd be interested to know how much it cost to loan Tongey and sign Cotterill. I wouldn't be surprised if they were both costing us more than Vaz Te.

I'd be interested to see loan fees overall if I'm honest.
