As I see it with Rooney he is definitely one of our better players and not a flat track bully like Jermaine Defoe but I think Paul Scholes called it right he is passed his peak. He scores goals in qualifying because he is playing against weaker teams who give him the 3 or 4 chances he needs to score. Against teams like Italy you get one chance and if you miss it that's it. Should we accommodate him on the team that's a very difficult question. Other than Sturridge he is probably our best forward and often plays no 10 for his club team. Do we have better alternatives it's a difficult call Sterling played well in the number10 role so would be hard to drop. Playing Rooney as a winger though seems pointless either way. We have better wingers than him.

I'm convinced he's only picked because of pressure from sponsors etc,how many shirts are in sports direct and other outlets with his name and number on the back?....they won't get sold if he's not playing so Umbro will lose a lot of money....cos' he certainly aint' worth his place on merit.

It's your opinion ,it use to be the case with Beckham cos' he never warranted his place in the England team, just to say Beckham hasn't been picked for this sqaud,it's a new shirt so there aren't any with his name or number on.

Same company. Nike bought Umbro a few years back.
