From the comment how do you make it that he thinks he will surpass it? You can't help yourself. I think it reads of a non-committal driven by a thought that actually he isn't going to be that good. There I am doing it now.

“Rooney is the BEST British player so far,” said Benfica coach Jorge Jesus.

“Wayne is a typical British player. But there have been British players who have great qualities that made them great players.
“[Paul] Gascoigne, George Best, Bobby Charlton and Denis Law.

Saying there good players, Benfica coach says WAYNES the best.

He's alrerady passed it with not just playing well but driving his team on to win things.

Only the very best win the European trophy.

So far you have proved that Jorge Jesus thinks Rooney is the best (I reckon it was probably lost in translation). Now you have to PROVE that he is right. Or accept it is just 1 opinion amongst many.

No idea. Definitely not at work, though. Honest.

Also proved he reads what he wants. It clearly states that Ferguson says it about Gascoigne.

    Manchester United
    Premier League (4): 2006–07, 2007–08, 2008–09, 2010–11
    Football League Cup (2): 2005–06, 2009–10
    FA Community Shield (3): 2007, 2010, 2011
    UEFA Champions League (1): 2007–08
FIFA Club World Cup (1): 2008

a couple of b rate trophy's there most are A rate.

I think if Wayne Rooney just won league 4 times it would prove him there better but he's won the big one, UEFA Champions League (1): 2007–08

Also Rooney to break 100 caps in 5 years? Probably.

But if John Terry had slotted his penalty kick in Moscow would that mean that Rooney was only 'good' and not 'exceptional'. After all, he wouldn't have won 'the big one'.

Fine margins in Hemsworth world eh?

So, let's say, for argument's sake (seeing as that's what's happening), that Rooney had decided to stay loyal to Everton, still developed as he did, scored just as many goals.....but stayed at Everton so not winning as much. By your definition he wouldn't have been as good a player even though he would have been no different a player.

Football is all about opinions.......in my opinion the best 2 English players I've seen are Glenn Hoddle and Matt Le Tissier.

If Gazza can't be considered as world class then there is no way that Rooney can.

Ah, the old 'Le Tissier hypothesis'.

Clearly being exactly the same human being but plying his trade at a less successful football club....would make him ****. Obviously.

Do you actually think before you post anything? it wasn't that long ago you decided the midfield at b arca was rubbish. I honestly think you epitomise the sky sports generation. Know everything but understand nothing
