A good job we’re in lockdown else the Derby team coach wouldn’t get any further than the Buzz bingo off harboro hills.
To be fair, even our own Manager describes our style as ‘direct with purpose’. There’s absolutely no doubt we are now a direct team. We probably need to stop being so defensive, when other fans and managers say it.
Not a fan of the guy, but what he says is accurate in that we're an extremely direct side now that focuses on putting the ball into the opponents area as a priority over possession or aesthetics.
No problems with what Rooney has said. We are a direct team that don't look to play. My one very minor criticism of big Val is that there has been times when we have the ball in the opposition half and we could put 4/5 passes together with space available but we still just kick it straight in the air. It seems that's what the players are instructed to do even if there is space available to get it down and play. Would like us to tweak things slightly and try to play some football in the opposition's half. We have some bloody good footballers so let them play a bit.
If we get the weather that's forecast for tomorrow night I hope we've got an alternative plan to the usual midfield head tennis we're so keen on.
We dont look to play in our half we look to play in their half and that`s why he says they have to protect their box from headers and second balls, he goes on to say they`ll look to hit us on the break, well a few have tried it and failed so bring it on young Waynee.
As a person, well..... But he was an exceptional player and has the potential to make a very, very good coach. To me, he sounded rather apprehensive there. Almost as if he knows what is coming, but doesn't know how to counter it. I have a feeling that if we were in the Premier League with this side we would be found out - probably through sides passing the ball around us as Bournemouth did earlier in the season when they were in better form. But for now, in this league, few teams currently have any idea how to stop us. I confidently expect us to win tomorrow night, and I think Bournemouth can expect a very different proposition come Saturday.
It’s called winning Football . Much better than that Losing football we usually play in this league. I don’t care how we play or how anyone describes it. I don’t get upset if anyone says we’re hoof ball. It’s winning football and it’ll do for me
He’s actually got it wrong though. We don’t tend to play long balls i to the box, we play them into their half, then get it down and dazzle their defenders.
It's OK while we're not there; wait while we are, the phrase "gerritonfluer" will be ringing out I'm sure.
Great point. Big difference between being able to ‘zone out’ when watching from home, and being at the match. Not sure how forgiving the crowd would have been, during the 1st half against Birmingham. In the main, I definitely think we’ve benefited from empty grounds. Big Val hasn’t had match day crowd pressure to deal with yet. Will be interested to see how he does.
