The club should indeed foot the bill. We have been robbed of something we were entitled to. Nobody should even think of paying a tenner out to view the game.
I agree. Even if the club are unable to issue codes, which is fair enough - it’s not their platform, they will have a way to refund purchases, even manually sending a tenner out in the post to verified purchases. If the club gets 80-100% of the sale anyway, they’re not losing any money.
I can't get hot under the collar about this. Our season tickets were bought at significantly knocked down prices. Mine was £141 lower than the previous season. The EFL are in the wrong on this occasion, but we're all still quids in.
Was just about to say, I think people are losing their temper over something which isn’t even going to happen.
When I started this thread I was well aware that there was a high likelihood the game wouldn’t go ahead. It seems just as likely now if not more so. But that’s not the point. It’s a scummy thing for the EFL to do, which deserves to be highlighted. It affects not just our club but all clubs. I’ve not seen much reaction on social media so I don’t know if other clubs are just not as open and transparent as ours, or if other clubs have done something differently.
While it's not a big deal really, I can understand why people feel put out. The impact of this isn't huge, but it's still a sh1tty thing to do. It's not mugging an old lady, but it's watching her drop a tenner, checking that no one is watching then picking it up and buggering off.
My assumption is that this is because most years, Boxing Day would've been an extra full round of 3pm fixtures. Whereas now Boxing Day is a Saturday, the extra fixture has to be played on the Tuesday. The EFL could easily have avoided this, given you would hope they knew what date that Boxing Day falls on. They could've referred to Qualifying games, Rather than Weekend or Midweek. Once they'd missed that, they should've just classed it as a midweek game. The few quid per season ticket holder of away teams probably amounts to less than the goodwill of the fanbase does.
