    We have had managers that the majority on here rated only for them to fall flat on their faces or piss off PDQ, if its him give the bloke a chance!

    In May 2020, Higgins left Dundalk to link up once again with Stephen Kenny, this time with the Republic of Ireland national football team as an opposition analyst.[6]

    On 23 April 2021 Higgins was appointed Derry City manager on a 3-and-a-half year contract. [7]

    In July 2023 Higgins took over at Barnsley FC promising to play Toby tyke in goal and only buy players once approved by a consortium of market traders led by Sid the sailor.

    Interesting curveball. Might be useful for sourcing Irish players, who are easier to bring over than from the rest of the EU. Looks like he's scouted for the Republic of Ireland national team.

    As ever, I'll keep an open mind...

    Let's face it non of us have got a clue who he is let alone how successful he will be. The same process got us Duff who turned out to be decent a liar but decent we've no chose but to get behind the bloke and support our team.

    Are they? Must admit I've only a had a quick scan through the BBC lists of the well over 100 transfers into the EFL this window but the number I get coming into the Champ/L1 from Derry's league is 0.

    I've just checked which school he went to and I'm happy ;)

    Seriously, he's a young BRITISH manager with managerial experience. He has a progressive outlook on the game and has been successful at his previous club just like our previous manager. His lack of experience of the lower English leagues is a concern but any appointment is going to be a risk and he'll get my support. The new Ownership group and the CEO succeeded the last - and so far only time - in appointing a head coach and I'm assuming they will have followed a similar process this time around. Let's support the decision and we can all hope for the same outcome.
