No offence but fans forums hardly have the most reasonable and sane opinions about everything, do they? I’d say ours is much less rabid and ridiculous that OwlsTalk for example, but it’s still full of people with ridiculous opinions.

The choice between the Europa League and being told which juniors to play.

He’s held talks. He’s clearly open to leaving.

*Phone Rings*”Hey Mr Higgins, this is Khaled from Barnsley are you interested in being our next manager?”
“No thanks Khaled, Micky Duff says I’d have to lie to the media and play a bunch of non leaguers and still be expected to get promotions”

    Talks have been undertaken.
    Talks have been had.
He had no intention of coming.

    See how talks work?

I've had several interviews when being less than sure that I wanted the post.

But does that make him a better or worse head coach only time will tell, my point been Duff had a couple of good seasons at his home town club there was no certainty he was going to succeed weather we knew his name or not.

Dunno, it's running rife with media outlets now. Feels like it has legs in it. Just like when the Swansea rumours started circulating. There's a pattern to how these things go, which is why the Wilder rumour just never felt right. Who knows though, we'll soon find out.

I know it is open season on the club at the moments & the critics & cynics are pouncing on any news with their knives sharpened & negativity nearly at boiling point but having read the comments on this thread I am appalled & quite embarrassed with the negativity aimed at a guy who basically no one knows, if he jumped on this board to sound out what kind of reception he could expect from our fan base & find out that the majority do not want to give him a chance he might indeed think its simply not worth it , if the fan base are not supportive to a new arrival then his job becomes a whole lot harder . I like everyone else does not know at this stage who is going to get the job but for crikey"s sake who ever gets the gig should at the minimum expect to be given a chance but it does seem to work like that with our fans, its pathetic !!

It says that he’s contracted until 2025 so they expect significant compensation. Would we pay significant compensation when there are managers out there available?

With all due respect to Derry, I imagine their definition of 'significant compensation' is probably some way less than we're used to. I definitely wouldn't be paying anything with six figures, for example.

Let’s say he’s earning £80k a year and we have to buy out two years of his contract, we’re still looking at £160k.
Unless he has a release clause, but they’re only ever negative things.

Managers who'd want a much bigger wage, I suspect.

The level of negativity is absolutely pathetic. Complete and utter whining, pathetic drivel from all the usual suspects

Mebbi. I would just be very surprised, if we're talking about paying six figure compo for an LOI manager. That money could be better spent elsewhere IMO. By any metric, I just can't imagine he was ever our top target. I'd be surprised if he was in our top 3, but who knows...

It would be a no from me, if we're going for a complete stab in the dark (which this is) just give it to Eaden and Devaney. Absolutely no difference here to Asbaghi and Schopp, arguably worse, they haven't learned their lesson it seems.

The vast majority of the Irish league is Non League standard, yes there will be the odd player that gets picked up.

    This is PE Teacher territory
