Watched Leeds Rhinos and Tykes every week for 3 years

Whilst writing for Leeds Student, I can honestly say that Union is not even close to being a patch on League. Inferior fitness, inferior ball handling, thinking processes, excitment etc etc.

This is backed up by attendances at the two sports at club level.

League will eventually take over as number one once people become more aware of the game.

And if anything I should be biased to Union as I went to a rugby union mad Grammar school and played it for 3 years before I even knew League existed.

Despite prefering League I don't think that it will ever take over in popularity from Union for two reasons...

    1.It's Northern
    2. The old school tie syndrome.

Even the Vichy Government banned League because they thought that it's popularity would overtake Union.

A comment I heard a few years ago is probably quite true

Union is a better game to play whilst League is a better game to watch.
